Sermon Series on Putting Paul's Gospel Into Our Own Family Life (based on my chart tract) |
First comes crucifying our flesh
/ world...
Galatians 5:24 - And
they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts.
Galatians 6:14 -
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
...then we can rise & live our
family life with Him as designed by Him which was then presented to and
patterned for us by Paul.
I Timothy 1:16 - Howbeit
for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew
forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe
on him to life everlasting.
Colossians 3:1 - f
ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where
Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Part III What Are We To Do With Grace Today? |
Ok, so what is the law that we are to establish?
Colossians 2:13-17
Not the gospels law of Jesus - that was to Jews,
NOT to us!
Paul's stuff is what we can strive for in a holiness
walk.
Romans 6:22 -
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your
fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
What is manifested to us today?
Romans 3:21-26
- the righteousness of God without the law is manifested!...
See more references to what is manifested to
us through Paul's ministry: Colossians
1:26-29; Romans 16:25,26; II Timothy 1:9-11
Paul preaches grace!
Ephesians 3:2 -
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is
given me to you-ward:
Acts 20:24 - But
none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have
received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:32 -
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace,
which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all
them which are sanctified.
His grace is sufficient!
II Corinthians 12:9,10 -
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is
made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in
my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore
I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
We are told to follow Paul's gospel - a gospel which includes
grace!
Romans 2:16 - In
the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according
to my gospel.
Romans 16:25 -
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and
the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the world began,
I Corinthians 4:16 - Wherefore
I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
I Corinthians 11:1 -
Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Philippians 3:17 -
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye
have us for an ensample.
Is God's grace good ONLY for salvation?
Galatians 3:3 - Are
ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the
flesh?
Philippians 1:6 -
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work
in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
We frustrate the grace of God if
we are not a partaker of Paul's grace
and/or if we don't pass on his
words - his epistles!
We then, as workers together with him,
beseech you also that ye receive not the
grace of God in vain.
II Corinthians 6:1
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for
if righteousness come by the law,
then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians 2:21
Yes, let us be thankful to Christ for the grace
that He gave us, but also...
Thank you, Paul, for telling us about that grace!
But by the grace of God I am what I am:
and his grace which was bestowed upon me
was not in vain;
but I laboured more abundantly than they
all:
yet not I, but the grace of God which was
with me.
Therefore whether it were I or they, so
we preach, and so ye believed.
I Corinthians 15:10
Otherwise, we, along with our wives and children
would still be trying to earn it
if we hadn't heard about it!
We surely wouldn't want that, eh!
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ
also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with
the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious
church, not having spot,
or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that
it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:25-27
