The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and study Paul's writings to apply the 'TO!"

Great Commission
Results Falsely Sought After Today!
|
Tonight, we will read Acts
1-8. As this is the place in the Bible that is all about
the Great Commission in great detail, as we read, we will hear some things
that people are seeking today. For 'some reason,' people just don't
want to consider Paul - but THIS is where they get their desires and faked
results, which only leads to frustrations, lies, pride and embarassment
if they don't happen today.
Sadly, preachers are preaching these
things more and more today. Sure, it is the Pentecostals that have
always preached this stuff, but why this is coming more and more from Bible
Believers - well, gain proving godliness is becoming more and more goal.
I Timothy
6:3-6 - If any man teach otherwise, and
consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing
nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh
envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of
corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness:
from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
As you read,
watch for these things: (the audio is us reading through these chatpers
with a few comments along the way)
-
They look like they had been with Jesus!
(do you look like you have been in the KJB?)
-
Building shakes
-
Boldness to the point of causing trouble
and persecution.
-
Thousands of souls added unto the church
-
Walking, leaping and praising God
-
Wonder, amazement - sight (not faith)
-
Unity - but under different design to
what Paul preaches!
-
Teach and preach Jesus Christ (the gospels,
not Paul's gospel)
-
Sins blotted out (not washed away)
-
Remission (not clean)
-
Repent and be converted (not works meet
for repentance, as Paul preached)
-
Magnify the apostles
-
Fear (Paul preaches the goodness of
God is what brings repentance)
-
Cut to the heart (the KJB is to do that
today, not the preacher)
-
Healing, miracles, signs, great wonders,
etc. (who does those these days?)
-
Tongues
-
Continued in prayer (is different than
praying without ceasing personally)
-
Repent and be baptized
-
Disciples 120 of them... not just the
12 - those were apostles
-
Calling upon the name of the Lord
-
The name of the Lord
-
Flesh shall rest in hope
-
Ways of life
-
Pricked in the heart!
-
We cannot speak but the things which
we have seen and heard (today, that is the KJB that we speak)
-
Persecution and arrest for preaching,
etc. (but Paul also tells us not to be stubborn about it, either)
-
Word of God increased (KJB today)
-
Blaspheme the law, etc.
-
Work of men or of God
-
Rejoicing in suffering
-
They hated the 'history' lesson from
Stephen, but they really hated his conclusion
-
Main characters: Stephen, Philip,
Peter, John, Holy Ghost - but no Paul until chapter 7:58
& 8:1
