The Entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO us!
We learn from the "For" and study to apply the 'TO!"

And Ye That Fear God
This is a very general outline to help you in listening to the audio sermon - the meat will be in the audio, not in the notes today.

Does "fearing" God mean to be afraid of Him?

Does Paul preach that we should be afraid of God?

Acts 2:43 - fear ... every soul
Acts 5:11 - fear ... all the church

Acts 10:2,22 - Cornelius feared God

Acts 13:26 - Jews and whosever ...

Was it God who was punishing / disciplining?

See Romans 2 - judgment now?  no - it is being stored until judgment day - white throne for the lost.
See Romans 2 - Goodness of God, etc.

Based on his deeds...
Romans 2:6-11 - render every man according to his DEEDS!

Paul says there is no fear of God in their eyes.  Romans 3:18
Paul talks about perfecting holiness in the fear of God.  II Corinthians 7:1
Paul tells us to submit ourselves one to another in the fear of God.  Ephesians 5:21

Does that all mean that we still should be 'afraid' of God today?

No - Paul is meaning to hate evil!
See Proverbs 8:13

Wisdom helps you understand the 'fear of the LORD.'

Proverbs 8:1-14
Proverbs 2:1-9

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 9:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 14:2 - walketh upright for the Lord
Proverbs 14:16 - wise man feareth and departeth from evil
Proverbs 14:26 - strong confidence
Proverbs 16:6 - by fear of the Lord, people depart from evil
Proverbs 23:17 - be in the fear of the LORD all the day long
Proverbs 28:14 - happy is the man that feareth alway
Proverbs 31:30 - a woman that feareth the LORD...

Now, for Parental Practical Application

Should dad have the children be afraid of dad?
Is that the fear that God shows us?
Shouldn't the kids be taught to hate evil - hate sin, etc. instead of dad?

Don't be afraid of Dad because of what you did - be afraid of what you did!

Sin is us is why we go to Hell - we die in our sins.
It isn't God's call - it is ours - based on our works - WITH or without sin, which one do we follow!
Do we hear, believe and trust Christ to take care of our sins, or do we try to make ourselves clean without Christ?
