Sermon Comments on I Peter 4:17 today;
Discernment today; Anointing today; Unction today and Private Interpretation today.
I. God's Judgment Begins with Us?
I Peter 4:17 - For
the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it
first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel
of God?
I see this verse in email spammies all the time. Come on good folks who
mean well - this verse is NOT TO US TODAY. Please at least put out the
truth today for people!
We are not to be worried about seeing God's judgment!
Romans 2:4,5 - the goodness of God
is extended to the saved AND lost today! Each has their judgment
coming later. The judgment of the Tribulation is to the Jews and
we are not in the tribulation today! Close - but not quite!
for the time IS come!
house of God - Trib church
us - Jews in Trib
obey
Read verses 18,19
are we scarcely saved?
those are that ungodly and sinners including Christians have to fear God's
judgment today?
Do we commit our souls to God? We don't commit our lives to the Lord,
we want HIS life!
and do we lose our salvation if we are not in 'well doing?'
This is a Jewish teaching as
are all the books from Hebrews to Jude!
See a few more quick places:
4:1-4 - why would Gentiles talk about
Gentiles (similiar observation in 2:12)
7 - the end of all things is at hand
now?
8 - charity above all things?
we hear that today -
WRONG DISPENSATION!
Paul doesn't teach this!
This is to the trib people, not to us!
12-14 - fiery trials today? partakers
of Christs sufferings? we are?
5:4,5 - chief Shepherd? that
is always a reference to Jews - the sheep, etc.
5:8,9 - devil will be walking about
during the tribulation, but not today!
5:10 - we are 'called' to suffer?
5:13 - church at Babylon?
There is a church during the tribulation and so it has to be the Laodicean
church.
II. Discernment
If there is an argument I grew weary of it is someone wanting to preach
on discernment and having no idea what it means or how to get it!
It is too simple, folks!
Let's start with the conclusion -
Discernment today is taken from Paul's writings!
There is no spiritual discernment other than the obvious truth of 'knowledge
and judgment; that ye may approve thaings that are excellent..
Philippians 1:9,10, etc. and that discernment
comes from your Bible reading - the simplicity that is in Christ!
Gospel Discernment - hypocrites if they couldn't discern the signs of the
times!
Matthew 16:3
Luke 12:56
Paul's discernment - God gave it to them!
I Corinthians 2:14
I Corinthains 12:10
that's it - that is all paul said about it.
Hebrew 4:12 - the word of God is discerner,
etc.
So, because of I Corinthians 13:10,
our discerner today is the KJB, not some feeling, inner light from the
spirit of God, an understanding that God gives you with out your KJB, etc.
Tribulation
Hebrews 5:14
They will have to use their senses of reasoning to discern both good and
evil!
But discernment today? It
is ALL from the KJB!
Why seemingly so hard to for so many people to discern today?
Afraid to judge anymore.
Misuse of Romans 14, for one...
Won't endure sound doctrine!
Love of money - err from the truth
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
all under grace, "so wny worry about it!"
judgment seat doesn't come until later, anyway
no big deal now
we don't need Philippians 1:9,10
Paul had the same battles and I am no better nor am I any different than
Paul!
Ephesians 4:17-21
another spirit / gospel / Jesus
deceived and deceiving, etc.
III. Anointing Today?
The book - not us!
Just read I John 2:27-29
There are people who actually believe they are anointed and can't be taught
a thing!
IV. Unction Today?
Not today!
Just read I John 2:20
There are pastors and evangelists who actually believe they have this unction
and pray for it.
V. Private Interpretation Today?
II Peter 1:20
The simplicity in Christ needs no interpretation - we have the Book rightly
divided!
Paul's was all before I Corinthians 13:10
(See I Corinthians 12:10; 14:26)
Private Interpretation will be an issue in the Tribulation, althnough we
sure have some corrupt uses of the Scriptures and profane and vain babblings
going on today!
