Lately, I have been making comments towards being at peace while I live and then after I die, but how the dying process isn't something I am looking forward to.

Well, after reading a number of books on the War Between the States (Civil War), and after reading a little tract written by Rick Williams (The Virginia Gentleman) on Patrick Henry, "He Died Well" along with reading a sermon by Samuel Davies, preached to the militia of Hanover Country, Virginia, on May 8, 1758 called "The Curse of Cowardice," I was given this sermon to preach to myself - and if anyone else wants to hear, than I pray God gives you the courage to die well as that is my personal desire and prayer for myself!

This sermon is not to whine; it is not to desire or offer sympathy, but to exhort, comfort, strengthen, encourage each other as well as just to challenge us to make ourselves available to give an ear and a hand when, where and how we can to each other, no matter if we are in Touchet or in the web family somewhere around this world.

We need each other more than ever these last days - whether they are getting closer to being the last days alive or just last days on earth before the rapture!
I Thessalonians 5:10-13
...whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Hebrews 10:24,25
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.  (this is not to be used as a guilty muscle to force church attendance - this is to assemble anytime anywhere.)

I Peter 4:7-10
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Galatians 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

I Timothy 2:1-3   I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

I Timothy 6:17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

II Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

II Peter 1:2-4   Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Philippians 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Our body is still a body of flesh- mortal flesh - the body of this death, as Paul calls it in Romans 7.

Praise Him for His operation - the circumcision made without hands...
...So we can still have life to live!

Romans 8:10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:4  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25  If we  live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Really Dead - not 'almost dead!'
Have you ever touched a Christian's dead body after they have died physically? Everybody should - even children and especially teens!  That body is empty - It is cold - it is hard!

There is no soul, no spirit of man, no Spirit of God - and the sin that was in there is done - kaput - out of power!

Thought:  the life of that sin in the flesh has to be the 'another Spirit' that Paul warns about following, etc. receiving, etc. because there is sure nothing there when one sees only the mortal flesh!

Mortal
Paul calls this our mortal flesh (subject to death) & our mortal body; someday it will put on immortality!

Romans 6:12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

I Corinthians 15:53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

I Corinthians 15:54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

I Corinthians 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I Peter 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

I Peter 2:20  For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

Romans 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

II Corinthians 1:5  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

II Corinthians 1:7  And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

Philippians 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Hebrew 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

James 5:10  Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

I Peter 4:13  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

P.S. Don't Blame God, either!

Note: Remember, some if not 'much' of our suffering could also be a result of NOT doing God's work and His will, too - even if it be 'good' - you know, doing right wrong, etc.

It could just be a result of the flesh - II Corinthians 9:6  But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Galatians 6:7,8  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

It could be the result of following the preaching of another Jesus and another spirit with a perverted gospel!
And some of the misery in our lives may be because we have wrongly followed those who promise liberty... II Peter 2:18-22  For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.  While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.  For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.  For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.  But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.  ...and we go right back to where we started from - only worse!

Sanballat and Tobiah can have their way with us if we are not alert to them, amen?  Amen!

So don't be so quick to blame God, or to accuse God, or doubt God or to assign to God any chastisement other than His words, etc.  The details for that sermon is soon to come.

Listen well!

• To His words - they are light; they are truth; they are life, they are power; they are our protection - we should be mindful of them, live by them, allow them free course in our 'aging' lives!
• To the Holy Spirit - guides you unto all truth, etc. (John 14:26; 16:13)
• To the KJB - the gospel of your salvation, etc.  They are words from heaven - listen to no other gospel about any other Jesus...  The KJB worketh effectually in you that believe; faith cometh from this Book! (Ephesians 1:12; Galatians 1:6; I Thessalonians 2:13; Romans 10:17)
• To the right music (word of Christ, Phil 4:8, etc) - music is to please Him, not yourself.
• To preaching, etc.  It is how God manifests his word to us - (Titus 1:3)  it is the power of God- it pleases God! (I Corinthians 1:18,20)

• not on our own understanding - Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
• Lean on the Lord for your strength!  Colossians 1:10,11 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;  Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
• Psalm 71:18  Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
• Psalm 18:32  It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
• Psalm 27:1  The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
• Psalm 28:7  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
• Psalm 29:11  The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
• Psalm 31:1-5   In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.  Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.  For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.  Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.  Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
• Psalm 46:1-3  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;  Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
• Psalm 62:5-8  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.  He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.  In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.
• Psalm 71:16  I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
• Psalm 73:23-26  Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.  Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but thee?  and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
• Psalm 96:6b  ...strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
• Psalm 118:14  The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
• Psalm 119:28  My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
• Psalm 140:7  O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. (see Ephesians 6:17)
• Psalm 144:1,2  Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:  My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
• Proverbs 10:29a  The way of the LORD is strength to the upright:...

• It's all we need to live and die with! It's our fellowship with Him! Rev 3:20
• It is the only voice from Heaven
• It is truth, Spirit, spiritual nourishment, quick, powerful, incorruptible, a more sure word of prophecy.
• It is our light, our protection, our salvation, cleansing, our source of faith, the glue that holds us together, our comfort, our answers to everything and explanations of the past, present and future.
• It is our daily as well as final judgment!
• It gives us hope!  Romans 15:4For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
• Rightly divided makes you approved unto God - and not ashamed - and not unto more ungodliness!  II Timothy 2:15,16

Comments are made that this sermon can be applicable in any and all areas of life that are 'dying.'  One's job, his family, the local church, the preaching, etc. all the stuff that is dying these days so the new World Friendly Amerika with it's new ecumenical Christianity can be taken over.  As everything we knew of in America dies, here is how God can still get the glory.

• the right seed and water and remember the wayside, the rock, the thorns and the good ground.  The increase of that seed is not our concern!
• Psalm 126:6  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
• in the bed: Psalm 4:4  Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.
• Psalm 63:5-7  My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:  When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.  Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
• Psalm 149:5  Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
• your burdens: Philippians 4:6,7   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Psalm 127:2  It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
• your walk: Philippians 4:9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.  Galatians 2:19-21  For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

• let go of the cares and riches and pleasures of this life - choke the word and brings no fruit to perfection!  Luke 8:14
• let go of the friendship of the world is enmity with God - whosoever is therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4
• let go of this new liberty - be it Amerika's or Christianity's new liberty today - it is putting folks back into bondage - and they will be worse than before!  II Peter 2:18-22

• II Corinthians 5:21 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
• Philippians 3:13,14  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
• Romans 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
• Galatians 5:
• Ephesians 2:1-7: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

• I Peter 4:1-3 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;  That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.  For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

• To hate; to look on with hatred or abhorrence; particularly, to feel disgust at
• the lusts of the world
• that which is evil - Romans 12:9  Let love be without dissimulation.  Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.  (Dissimulation is a hiding under a false appearance).
• Deuteronomy 7:26  Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
• Psalm 119:163  I hate and abhor lying...
• temptation - seek the victory, not the loss (gold - Rev 3:18)
• those who want the Book shut down; made illegal, prohibited; changed; 'corrected;' 'made better;' the scholars, the pastors and educated who turn to the Greek and Hebrew, etc.!
• those people who want your kids!  (sodomites, teachers, professors, youth pastors, hollywood, credit card companies, UN - they all killed Christ, they are trying to kill the KJB, they are trying to kill the church, the family, your 'home' - they want the children today!
• II Timothy 3:1-7 ...For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, .
• II Corinthians 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him..

• Psalm 18:2  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
• Psalm 31:3  For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
• Psalm 40:2  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
• Psalm 62:2  He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
• Deuteronomy 32:4  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

• Proverbs 15:13  A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
• Proverbs 15:15  All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
• Proverbs 17:22  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
• Psalm 126:1-3  When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. • II Corinthians 5:9  Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

Colossians 3:24  Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.  Ephesians 6:8  Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
• gold and clothes - Revelation 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

• deliverance: from the law of sin; battle of the flesh and Spirit; ourselves over frustrations and tribulations of daily life; ourselves so that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh; this present evil world; power of darkness; unreasonalbe and wicked men and the wrath to come.  (see Men, Overcome of Be Overcome for those details of deliverance!)
• for His glory  (many verses)
• to teach others (especially your own)  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.  II Timothy 2:2
• for each other (many verses)
• for the Lord - Romans 14:7,8  For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
• the gospel - I Corinthians 9:14  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

• to get out of the body - Romans 8:23  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
• eternity  II Corinthians 5:2  For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
• be a pastor I Timothy 3:1  This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
• Learn the Book!  Colossians 1:9  For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
• wrong desires...  Galatians 4:9  But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
• to grow  I Peter 2:2  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

• II Timothy 4:8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
• Titus 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
• I Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
• rapture - I Thessalonians 4:14-18 - comforting words!
• death - and all that follows: judgment of works, being changed - being without spot, marriage, the battle and return, the millennium and eternity afterwards...
• being fashioned unto His body...  Philippians 3:21  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
• marriage supper of the Lamb - Revelation 19:1-9 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:  For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.  And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.  And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.  And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.  And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
• the great battle and supper - Revelation 19:11-16And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
• eternity - Revelation 21-22; Isaiah 9:6,7For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.  The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
