Part I - a.m. notes

see John 8:20-36

Modern Christians can 'say' they have been set free,
but they won't be truly "set free" until His word makes them free!

Thy word is truth... and ye shall know the truth,
the truth shall make you free.

I.  Now that we are made free by Jesus Christ, PAUL is the one who will 'set us free,'
But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;  Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.  Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:  But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.. Acts 26:16-20

II.  However... we still must make OUR OWN decision to live free!.

II Timothy 2:24-26  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

4 Questions:

1.  Do folks even WANT to be delivered FROM this wicked world
and all that comes with it...
...to the joy and happiness of true freedom that Christ paid for and offers to all?

Do folks even want the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, etc.  The bread of life, the light of the world, etc.?

Even if they are tired of and from the world...?

Answer: No!
Isaiah 55:8,9  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 3:10-12  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

2.  HOW God can still tell them their need - and their consequences?

...through Jesus Christ...
John 14:1,6  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
... by the Holy Spirit
John 16:7-14  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  Of sin, because they believe not on me;  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.  I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
...through this KJB
Hebrews 4;12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
II Timothy 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
...through preachers...
Ephesians 4:11.12   And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
II Timothy 2:24,25a  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;
...through preaching:
I Corinthians 1:17-20  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.  Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
I Corinthians 14:24,25  But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:  And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
...from Paul's gospel:
Acts 28:31  Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
Romans 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Romans 16:25  Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
II Timothy 2:8  Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
...from us...
Philippians 2:15  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
II Corinthians 4:6  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

3.  CAN God even show folks the NEED to be delivered these days?

Sure - His words and KJB Bible Believing Christians are still around...
- if we are willing to preach, explain, show, tell, help and 'share!'

Some of the lost still learn of their need to be saved, but what about beyond their salvation?
Even Christians today still choose to live that worldly & religious life of
bondage, misery, frustration and confusion!

The big question is really this one:
3.  Are folks even WILLING to listen to God today?
(the Book)
Do they even know if they are listening to God anymore?
(churches, books, psychologies, imitations, bad testimonies)

What do Christians even know:

...About Sin?

...About Paul's gospel and following Paul? ...About the results of this life on earth - temporarily for today AND eternally for tomorrow?
Concerning the lost...
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19

Concerning more and more of the saved these days...
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb,
The dog is turned to his own vomit again;
and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
II Peter 2:22

However, if we DO want to be delivered beyond our salvation...
... to include a new daily walk and a new life...
(according to God's words, that is...)
(not according to your pastor's opinions; not according to the Greek and Hebrew and so-called originals;
not your church teachings; not other books; etc. or your own 'feelings' and 'heart!")

We must stay in "The Book" to know:
WHAT can we be delivered FROM and
WHERE we can be delivered TO?
Are you reading it?  Do you know and understand what you are reading?

Yes, personal salvation is a great thing - the greatest -
- but there is more to the life of being a Christian than just being saved!

FROM what TO what?
1.  Delivered FROM Hell and the lake of fire...

TO:  the winning side of the war during the Second Coming Revelation 19:14,
TO:  an Eternity with Christ and fashioned like unto Christ during the Millennium,
TO:  the right side of the White Throne Judgment Daniel 7:9,10
TO:  a life forever in a government and peace of which there shall be no end!  Isaiah 9:7

2.  Delivered FROM the law of sin...
Romans 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

TO:  a life to serve in newness of spirit!
Romans 7:5,6 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
TO: A life where grace abounds!
Romans 5:20,21  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
TO:  A life with a peace with God and access to His grace while we rejoice in His hope!
Romans 5:1,2  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
TO:  An eternal life of everlasting righteousness & holiness!
Romans 6:4-8, 11  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin.  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:22,23  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
TO: A life without bondage from the curse of the law
Romans 10:4 - For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Galatians 3:13,14  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
TO:  A life of direction that can actually please God!
Romans 3:31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

3.  Delivered FROM the daily battles between our flesh, sin that is in me, and the Spirit of God...
Romans 7:23,24  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

TO: a life cut away from dying in our sins today Colossians 2:11  In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:   Ephesians 2:1  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
TO: a life with no guilt, no need of confession to live, no fear of loss of salvation - a life of being to get right back up after falling!
Romans 4:5-8  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,  Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.  Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Ephesians 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1:14  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
TO: a future life where we will be made like unto Him!
Romans 8:23b ... even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Philippians 3:21: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
I John 1:3 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

4.  Delivered FROM ourselves: the frustrations and tribulations of daily life...
II Corinthians 1:8,9  For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:  But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

TO: a life delivered to God, being delivered right now and will yet deliver us to Him in the future!
II Corinthians 1:10  Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
TO: a life being able to handle and 'cope' with the frustrations and tribulations of daily life!
II Corinthians 4:5-9  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.  We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
I Timothy 2:1,2  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
TO: a life with the peace of God from the God of peace!
Philippians 4:6,7  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
TO: a life that is NOT about ourselves!
II Timothy 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
II Corinthians 5:15  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
Romans 10:3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
II Corinthians 10:12  For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

5.  Delivered unto death FROM ourselves for Jesus' sake -
from a life WE want to walk - and just keep messing up...
II Corinthians 4:10-12  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.  For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake...

TO: a life that we are willing to die for others so that the life also of Jesus (according to Paul's gospel, remember) might be made manifest in our mortal flesh so we can show others that same light!
II Corinthians 4:10b; 11b,12 continued... ... that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body ... that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.  So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
TO:  a life that God paid for and has designed
I Corinthians 6:19,20  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
TO: a life that God designed
II Corinthians 3:5  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
TO: a life for others and not ourselves!
Romans 15:1  We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
II Corinthians 1:4  Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
TO: a life with a light to shine - a life with a good testimony - a life with HIS light instead of our own for a change!!!
II Corinthians 4:5,6  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6.  Delivered FROM this present evil world
(a world that is entering into not only our homes, but into our churches, as well) ...
Galatians 1:4  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

TO: a life with activities & fellowships that please the Lord instead of to our flesh or the world's ways!
II Corinthians 6:14-18   Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

7. Delivered FROM the power of darkness...
Colossians 1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness...

TO: a life in and even aware of the right kingdom!
...and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Acts 28:31  Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
Romans 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
I Corinthians 15:50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
TO: A life where we know who the real enemy is!
Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
TO: a life with spiritual understanding!
I Corinthians 2:9-16
TO: a life based on rightly dividing the word of truth!
II Timothy 2:15,16  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

8.  Delivered FROM unreasonable and wicked men - men that have not faith...
II Thessalonians 3:1,2  Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:  And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

TO: A life with folks of faith instead of the worldly crowd who will eventually destroy our families and churches, etc.

9.  Delivered FROM the wrath to come...
(tomorrow AND today!)
I Thessalonians 1:9,10  For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;  And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

TO: a life without the fear of God's wrath - today or tomorrow!
Romans 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

What are some of the "temporary escapes" that folks will pick from
instead of seeking a true deliverance:
