Chosen to Confound

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;
and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
I Corinthians 1:26

Acts 2:1-6 - they were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. Today, people are confounded by ONE language - English in the King James Bible!

Acts 9:19-22 - Paul confounded the Jews at the very beginning of his ministry - even before he was to learn all the information for his Epistles from Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 1:19-31 - we will confound the wise, the things that are mighty! Yes, us! You and me - no Bible degree, no scholarship practice, not knowing Greek and Hebrew, not knowing how to manipulate words to make an impressive sermon!

Just our faith in that rightly divided King James Bible - acknowledging the truth - knowing that KJB is that which which is perfect & has come - with THAT Bible, we can confound the best of the world - the wise; the mighty; those that seek after wisdom but reject God's, the noble.

They wise men that are after the flesh!
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh,
not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
I Corinthians

We are chosen to confound them!
That is our 'ministry' and is our 'duty!'

They want to debate!
They have no final authority!

The world always wants to debate!
Romans 1:29

Christians even want to debate!
II Corinthians 12:20

Why? They have no final authority!
Why? They don't know how to rightly divide!
Why? They don't know what it means to follow Paul!
Why? They have had bad examples from their teachers - they have taught them how to debate - call names, argue, flash their attitude, strive, etc.
Why? Their education has boosted their pride!
Why? They think it takes 'scholarship' to 'win' folks to Christ!
Why? They believe they have a ministry in debate and arguing with folks - especially those 'brave' ones over the internet!

Debating, arguing, striving, etc is NOT iron sharpening iron...
Proverbs 27:17
...although you can learn and grow from your discussions with folks. But don't let any try to show you that debating, arguing, striving, etc. is the way God would have us talk with these gainsayers!

What are we dealing with when we meet these folks?
Read II Timothy 2:17; 2:23-25; Titus 3:9,10; I Timothy 1:3,4; 6:4-6!

vain babblings
foolish questions
unlearned questions
contention
"gain" believers
people who teach fables, genealogies, other doctrine
people who

are destitute of the truth
have corrupt minds
know nothing in God's eyes

What is the problem with these people and their strivings and debates, etc?

They cause folks to err concerning the faith!
It is unprofitable!
It is vain!
It genders strife!
It ministers questions!
It doesn't godly edify!
It causes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings
They are people with corrupt minds - what can you 'teach' them? They won't even believe the Bible is the word of God!

Ok, so WHAT should we do with these folks?
How do we talk to them?

Acts 26:1-3 - if they won't listen patiently - without interruption, etc. then don't get into the discussion!
Titus 3:2- do not speak evil of them
Titus 3:2 - do not be a brawler with them!
Titus 3:2 - be gentle, shewing all meekness...
why? Because we were like them at one time!!!
Read all of Titus 3:2-8
II Timothy 2:24-26 - Show them that the KJB is their ONLY answer! Not religion, not a denomination, not a program, etc.
II Timothy 2:25 - show them the importance of first acknowledging the truth!
II Timothy 2:16,17 - show them rightly dividing the word of truth and how that is so simple!
Titus 3:10 - reject them, avoid them, shun them, if they don't heed after your second visit!
Titus 1:9-16 - Hold Fast! Rebuke them when necessary!
