Blessed
be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the
Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who
comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that
we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the
comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
I Corinthians
1:3,4
Finally,
brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort,
be of
one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
II Corinthians
13:11
Comfort
during times of the OT / Gospels!
Matthew
5:4 - Blessed are they that mourn:
for they shall be comforted.
-
How?
-
Do we 'mourn' so that we can be 'comforted'
by the brethren!
Matthew 9:22
- But Jesus turned him about, and when
he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath
made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
-
Seeking miracles
today? - wanting to SEE miracles / wonders / gain / in order to increase
OUR faith Today!
-
But is it ever
a wrong faith people that people would seek instead of seeking to have
the faith of Christ Jesus?
-
Galatians 3:26
-For ye are all the children of God by
faith in Christ Jesus.
-
Colossians
1:4 - Since we heard of your faith in Christ
Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
-
Colossians
2:5 -For though I be absent in the flesh,
yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the
stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
-
To "trust"
would mean having faith!
-
II Corinthians
3:4 - And such trust have we through Christ
to God-ward:
-
II Corinthians
10:7 -Do ye look on things after the outward
appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of
himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
-
Ephesians 1:12
- That we should be to the praise of his
glory, who first trusted in Christ.
-
Or must you have
the faith of...
-
Galatians 2:16
- Knowing that a man is not justified by
the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed
in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and
not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh
be justified.
-
Galatians 2:20
- I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless
I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live
in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave
himself for me.
-
Galatians 3:22
- But the scripture hath concluded all
under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to
them that believe.
-
Churches today
are all being taught Jewish Doctrines!
-
Jews had to SEE
to believe!
-
I Corinthians
1:22 - For the Jews require a sign, and
the Greeks seek after wisdom:
-
So most folks
today don't have 'faith' in their King James Bible nor in faith today at
all!
-
See Revelation
3:9 - Behold, I will make them of the synagogue
of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will
make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have
loved thee.
-
Titus 1:14
- Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and
commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
-
Churches are suppose
to be teaching Paul's ways!
-
I Corinthians
4:17 - For this cause have I sent unto
you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall
bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every
where in every church.
-
NOT the apostles
doctrine!
-
Paul - THE apostle!
-
Romans 11:13
- For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch
as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
-
I Corinthians
11:1 - Paul, called to be an apostle of
Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
-
I Corinthians
11:1 - Be ye followers of me, even as I
also am of Christ.
-
Ephesians 3:1-7
-
I Corinthians
4:16 - Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers
of me.
-
Philippians
3:17 - Brethren, be followers together
of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
-
II Thessalonians
3:7,9 - For yourselves know how ye ought
to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Not because
we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow
us.
John 14:16
- And I will pray the Father, and he shall
give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
John 14:18
- I will not leave you comfortless: I will
come to you.
-
Ok, how did he
do it during the Great Commission:
-
How did he in
Paul's time?
-
How does he do
it in our time today?
-
How will He do
it during the Tribulation?
John 14:26
- But the Comforter, which is the Holy
Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
-
All things today
are in KJB!
-
Remembrance, etc.
IF you are reading the KJB!
-
See I
Corinthians 13:10 where this all ends
in this dispensational change-over!
-
(notice Hebrews
9:16,17 - when the new testament begins
dispensationally)
John 15:26
- But when the Comforter is come, whom
I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth
from the Father, he shall testify of me:
-
Spirit of truth
- from within the KJB today!
-
It does testify
of Christ - the Risen Christ - the only one that does!
John 16:7 -
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is
expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will
not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
-
He did!
-
It did!
-
See
Romans 8:9-11
Acts 9:31 -
Then had the churches rest throughout all
Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear
of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
fear
of the Lord?
-
Signs, wonders,
miracles, etc.
-
Paul's persecutions
were done! They had to find out about it!
-
see Acts
9:27-30
-
Peter, the apostle
to the Jews still had a heart towards the Jews now - was Peter a 'transition?'
-
Saul gets his
name changed and the ministry that he had been involved in now really
takes off!
Now to Paul
directly for comfort!
Romans
15:4 - For whatsoever things were written
aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort
of the scriptures might have hope.
-
OT Scriptures
and any of Paul's writings as they became available
-
Somebody had scriptures
of some sort...
-
Luke 24:27
- And beginning at Moses and all the prophets,
he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
-
Christ knew them
- wouldn't Paul have had them, too?
-
Acts 17:2 -
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto
them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
-
Acts 17:11
- These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched
the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
-
Acts 18:28
- For he mightily convinced the Jews, and
that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
-
Romans 1:2
- (Which he had promised afore by his prophets
in the holy scriptures,)
-
Romans 16:25,26
- Now to him that is of power to stablish
you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according
to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world
began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets,
according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all
nations for the obedience of faith:
-
Read the small
print in some KJB at the end of Paul's books!

Good for fathers
/ parents who want to do their kids correctly - comfort!
-
I Corinthians
14:3 - But he that prophesieth speaketh
unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
-
I Thessalonians
2:11 - As ye know how we exhorted and comforted
and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
-
Edification is
not flattery or acceptance, etc.
-
Not to destruction!
-
II Corinthians
10:8 - For though I should boast somewhat
more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and
not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
-
II Corinthians
13:10 - Therefore I write these things
being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the
power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
-
II Corinthians
13:11 - Finally, brethren, farewell. Be
perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God
of love and peace shall be with you.
-
I Corinthians
14:31 - For ye may all prophesy one by
one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
-
But also keep
in mind what is coming below - the proper comfort is from those who are
still 'doing right' as they are reminded & appreciated that they ARE
doing right! (and not ahead of time, either - e.g.
- telling kids 'thanks for sitting down / being quiet ahead of time, etc.)
-
Not
to anger!
-
Ephesians 6:4
- And, ye fathers, provoke not your children
to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Comfort for
pastors:
II Corinthians
7:4 - Great is my boldness of speech toward
you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding
joyful in all our tribulation.
Comfort
from the coming of Timothy, Titus, Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, Marcus,
Jesus
II Corinthians
7:6,7
Nevertheless
God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming
of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith
he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning,
your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
-
Rejoiced the more!
-
Is great encouragement
for a pastor of Paul's preaching!
-
earnest desire
-
mourning
-
fervent mind toward
Paul
I Thessalonians
3:2 -And sent Timotheus, our brother, and
minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish
you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
Philippians
2:19 - But I trust in the Lord Jesus to
send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort,
when I know your state.
-
Paul knew Timothy
would teach the stuff that would help the folks... which in turn would
comfort Paul!
II Corinthians
7:13 - Therefore we were comforted in your
comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because
his spirit was refreshed by you all.
-
even Titus was
refreshed by the people!
Ephesians 6:21,22
- But that ye also may know my affairs,
and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister
in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: Whom I have sent unto
you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might
comfort your hearts.
-
Tychicus sure
did tell us of Paul's affairs - see next point
Colossians
4:7-9 - All my state shall Tychicus
declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and
fellowservant in the Lord: Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose,
that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts; With Onesimus,
a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known
unto you all things which are done here.
-
Tychicus - Ephesians
-
Tychicus / Onesimus - Colossians
-
Onesimus - Philemon

4:10,11 - Aristarchus my fellowprisoner
saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received
commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;) And Jesus, which is called
Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto
the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
Colossians
2:2 - That their hearts might be comforted,
being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance
of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of
the Father, and of Christ;
I Thessalonians

over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and we learn to apply the 'TO!"
