The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and study Paul's writings to apply the 'TO!"

Rightly Dividing "Christmas"
|
Part III
The Christian's Battle Over Christmas, etc.
(if they battle it, that is...)
More Unfinished Works of Jesus
Philippians 1:6
-
Being perfected - II Timothy 3:16: Ephesians 4:12
-
Abound yet more - II Timothy 1:9,10
-
Grow in knowledge and judgment - Philippians 1:9,10
-
Grow up from being a child ... - Ephesians
4:14; I Corinthians 13:11
-
Grow tighter with the body of Christ - Ephesians
4:14-16; Romans 12:5
-
Worketh effectually in you that believe... -
I Thessalonians 2:13
-
Christ becomes magnified in our body - Philippians
1:20 - According to my earnest expectation
and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness,
as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it
be by life, or by death.
More and more are walking more and more like Gentiles - Lost!
Ephesians 4:17-24

Mind vs Flesh
Romans 7:22-25
We are to put on the New Man
Ephesians 4:22-24
Put off old man
|
Put on New Man
|
Romans 6:6
|
Colossians 3:10
|
Colossians 3:9
|
|
We are a new creature, right?
II Corinthians 5:17
Galatians 5:15-16
Christ fought and won over the flesh
Ephesians 2:15
I see more and more are only 'dealing'
/ 'compromising' with the old man!
I. Yes, there is a lot of stuff to learn these days... but...
-
1) Daniel 12:4
-
2) II Timothy 3:6,7
-
3) Colossians 2:8
-
4) II Thessalonians 2:9,12
-
5) II Timothy 3:13
-
6) II Timothy 4:4
-
7) Ephesians 4:19
-
8) Learning from those who have cast off...
II. Yes, you can learn how to 'do' your kids better... but...
-
Their personality development, old man development,
sin will eventually revive and they will die...
-
Or create little Gospel Jesus haters by pushing the
Jewish teachings from Jesus in the Gospels!
-
Train - not 'allow' or even
'guide'
-
Proverbs 22:6 (or even
22:10)
-
The way is Paul's teachings of the way of the Risen Christ!
-
I Corinthians 4:17 - For
this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful
in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in
Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
-
I Corinthians 12:31 - ...yet
shew I unto you a more excellent way.
-
Acts 18:26 - ...expounded
unto him the way of God more perfectly.
To Our Old Man / Flesh, we...
-
Entertain it...
-
Fellowship with it...
-
Flatter it...
-
Pamper it...
-
Feed it...
-
Encourage it...
-
Tempt it...
-
Try to control it...
-
Compromise to please both flesh and vanity of one's mind
-
Guide it...
But we are suppose to crucify our flesh!
-
Galatians 5:24 -
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts.
-
(TV testimony at Costco - music, clothes, mouth, etc.)
We are his workmanship, why don't we let him do the work?
-
Ephesians 2:10 - For
we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
-
He took care of sin by taking care of the law!
-
Sin still exists in us, but... Now if I do
that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in
me.
-
He did the sacrifice!
-
Christ for us - Ephesians
5:2 - And
walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for
us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
-
Lost folks - I Corinthians
10:20 - But
I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to
devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship
with devils.
-
Romans 12:1 - I
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
What does He want to teach you about
Christmas?
What does He want you to do about Christmas?
Do men's traditions please God?
So then they that are in the flesh cannot
please God.
Romans 8:8
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do
I seek to please men?
for if I yet pleased men, I should not
be the servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good
soldier of Jesus Christ.
No man that warreth entangleth himself
with the affairs of this life;
that he may please him who hath chosen
him to be a soldier.
II Timothy 2:3,4
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy
and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men, after the rudiments
of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:8
