Can Ya Take It?
All of It?

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
John 16:12

That is an amazing statement that Jesus Christ makes, amen?

Question:  Why could they NOT bear those things that Christ could have told them?

Answer: verse 13: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

This is similar to why a lost person can't understand anything that Jesus Christ says today in that King James Bible, rightly divided, of course!

In fact, if the Book didn't need to be rightly divided, we wouldn't need the Holy Spirit, eh!  Hmmmm, maybe that is why following the gospels at their choosing seems to be so easy and so popular these days.  I mean, just follow the beatitudes! (even though that is impossible)

But it just doesn't work that way, eh!

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
I Corinthians 2:14

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
I John 4:5,6

So, once again we see a verse (John 16:13) that is not written TO us today,
but it is certainly a verse we can & should learn from!

Is this just a verse that we can use to justify our 'holding' back the 'truth' when it comes to the famous 'marketed gospel' that I have been preaching about lately?  Does this justify trimming thy ways to seek love?   Not at all!

You see, Christians DO HAVE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH today!

John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Romans 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Ephesians 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise...

Ephesians 4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

I Corinthians 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Galatians 4:6  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

The Disciples "could not" bear "all" what Christ had to say then!
Unfortunately, most folks today "choose not" to bear any of Jesus Christ's words!

But because we DO HAVE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH today...
we SHOULD BE ABLE TO BEAR ALL of what Jesus Christ has to say...
and in the MANNER HE SAYS IT TODAY - through Paul!

The Holy Spirit will guide the lost TO the truth! John 16:8-11
The Holy Spirit will guide the saved INTO ALL truth!  John 16:13

You too can bear all the things Jesus has to say if:

1)  You Must be on good ground!
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.  Luke 8:15

Do you think you are on good ground?

You must be well watered!
Jesus answered and said unto her,
If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee,
Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
John 4:10
(but not over-watered - you must be 'doing some things to use up that water)

Your ground can not be hard - the hardness must be broken up!
... break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD,
till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Hosea 10:12

Your ground must be moist and moldable!
But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay,
and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Isaiah 64:8
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
Jeremiah 18:2,3

You must be well fertilized!
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
I Corinthians 1:18
(But don't get burned out!)

You must be getting plenty of Sun!
But unto you that fear my name
shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings;...
Malachi 4:2

Make sure you are always rooting out your weeds,
your old junk pulled down, destroyed, thrown down!
Jeremiah 1:10

Then you will be Better Able to Take EVERYTHING
that the Lord has to say to you!

AND you will grow...
...you will hear it, you will keep it, and you will bring forth fruit with patience!
Luke 8:15

I hope you are not battling Luke 8:12,13,14!!!
12: Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13: They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14: And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

If you are, then you cannot take all that the Lord has to say to you!

Do you have a Scriptural response - WITH scriptures?  or just your own opinion, maybe even still based on preaching from me or even some other guys - but NO scriptures!

Ya need to have Scriptures otherwise you are no different than Ephesians 4:17-21 - even if you agree with the preaching and teaching.  You must know the Scriptures!  You must be taught by Christ and you must be willing and able to 'take' all that He has to say!

You can accept it...
You can reject it...
But you can't ignore it forever...
(You have the Holy Spirit to you...)
...bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
You gotta get that 'SWORD' opened and used!

Can you take all that Jesus Christ has to say to you?

As a Christian...
...you can be irritated, but you shouldn't be offended!
...you can be troubled, but you shouldn't be distressed!
...you can be perplexed, but you shouldn't be in despair!
If you are ever persecuted, you still shouldn't feel forsaken!
If you are ever cast down, you shouldn't feel destroyed!
...you can be alone, but you shouldn't ever feel lonely!
... you can be saddened, but you shouldn't ever get discouraged!

But you should be able to TAKE all that Jesus Christ has to say to you!

2.  You Must be Seeking God's ways - You must be wanting & willing to grow His way!

Matthew 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  (Keep in mind the rightly divided application to this verse - it is essential to it's proper application...)
Colossians 3:1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
or
Psalm 10:3-6  For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.  The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.   His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.  He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

Psalm 40:16  Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

Are you seeking as you read?
Psalm 119:130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Are you seeking as you study?  (moms, dads, even kids)
II Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are you seeking as you listen to preaching?
I Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Ezekiel 12:2  Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.

3.  You Must Accept His Gifts to Help you Grow!

A.  John 16 - The Comforter

B.  Ephesians 4:11 - Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors & Teachers

As did Paul, these men care!  They fear that you might miss what God has given them to give to you! Gal 2:1,2; 4:8-11; Phil 2:14-16; I Thessalonians 3:5

They Preach for 'YOU" - Ephesians 3:1,2,4,13,16,17; II Corinthians 1:24; Philippians 1:25; I Thessalonians 3:9; III John 1:4

But they still didn't preach themselves ("ourselves") Galatians  2:17

It is NOT about ourselves  or our own kids.  It IS about His Book & His Glory!   Ephesians 3:21

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.  Hebrews 13:7

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.  Hebrews 13:17

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  I Corinthians 2:1

For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. I Corinthians 1:12

C.  The Holy Bible
II Timothy 3:16,17  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I  Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Hebrews 4:12,13  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

D.  The Brethren
I Corinthians 3:9-11
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
Hebrews 10:24,25
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

4.  You must realize the times we are in!
Shine His light on the path, not into the surroundings around the path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  Psalm 119:105

Can you tell the difference between the real narrow path and the advertised Wide, Worldly yet Wicked path?
Do you realize when you are off His directed path?
Do you know how to get back onto His directed and well lit path?
Do you try?  Do you keep trying even when you fail?

If all of these are so - then Jesus Christ can tell you anything!
Your pastor can tell you anything!
Your Bible can tell you anything!
Your brethren can tell you anything!
