The
Entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and study to apply the 'TO!"

We
are Called Out to Live Turned From Unto! |
Part I
November 11, 2007
a.m. service
Remember
the Sunday School Notes today:
See Ezra
9,10 on not separating themselves from the people of the lands,
an unclean land, doing according to their abominations...
Another
Old Testament Ensample:
See
Psalm 106:34-45
-
Psalm 106:34-43
on mingling among the heathen, and learning their works...
-
Psalm 106:44-45
- Nevertheless... yes,
and for us today, we were given Christ and then Paul - and then KJB!
-
We can not "provoke" God anymore
- those bad works will burn...
-
...and we will not be brought low by
God, only by ourselves or by others as we reap what we sow, etc.
It is still a rotten and cursed
world!
We are reminded that today, 'the
curses are still in effect.'
-
To the women:
-
Genesis 3:16
- Unto the woman he said, I will greatly
multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth
children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over
thee.
-
Even though the
feminists, etc. try to change all this... it still exists!
-
Daniel 11:37
- Neither shall he regard the God of his
fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify
himself above all.
-
To the men:
-
Genesis 3:17-19
-
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy
wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou
shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt
thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall
it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In
the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the
ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust
shalt thou return.
-
More and more
men today would rather accept welfare and/or have their wife do the sweating!
-
Jesus warned about the world
-
Matthew 13:22
- He also that received seed among the
thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
-
Matthew 16:26
- For what is a man profited, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?
-
John 1:10 -
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew
him not.
-
Paul reminds us that the world today
is still an unclean land!
-
Romans 3:19
- the world is guilty before God!
-
Ephesians 2:2
- the course of this world is led by the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that worketh in the children of disobedience: - fulfilling their
desires and lusts of their flesh - and by nature, children of wrath!
-
I Corinthians
2:6 - the wisdom of this world, the princes of this world all
come to naught!
-
Galatians 1:4
-
this present evil world...
-
Galatians 6:14
- the world is crucified unto Paul and he unto the world!
-
Paul tells us in Romans
12:2 ... be not conformed to
this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...
In other words...
Paul Preaches Separation!
(Once again, we
continue to learn that following Paul has even more challenges, eh!)
It isn't
all just about grace and doing what we want guilt-free now!
Romans
6:1-8 - What shall we say then? Shall we
continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that
are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many
of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should
walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the
likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of
sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we
believe that we shall also live with him:
Paul uses words like:
-
from such
turn away, withdraw thyself, have no company with, abstain from, be no
more children; ... and is referring
to ... them that speak vain words, good
words and fair speeches that deceive the simple; from
he
that preached another Jesus... , etc.
Called out FROM the world - UNTO
a living God!
-
The church
-
'called out' assembly of people called
out to be a peculiar people
-
Titus 2:14
- Who gave himself for us, that he might
redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
-
Reconciled us with His chosen people
unto Himself!
-
with the Jews
-
I Peter 2:9
- But ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people...
-
both unto God
-
Ephesians 2:16-19
-
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having
slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were
afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access
by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers
and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household
of God;
-
As a body, we
are to turn from...
-
these vanities...
-
darkness...
-
power of
Satan...
-
repent and
turn...
-
and do works...
We are different now because we
are now 'made' differently!
Ephesians
2:13 - But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes
were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Romans
6:18 - Being then made free from sin, ye
became the servants of righteousness.
II Corinthians
5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for
us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
him.
As a result, we are to live
differently!
Ephesians
2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that
we should walk in them.
Philippians
2:15 - That ye may be blameless and harmless,
the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse
nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Called out:
-
Women / Ladies / girls - your place
is...
-
out of the world
-
out of the workplace
-
out from other men
-
out from feminism
-
out from other ladies
-
out from gossiping, being busy bodies
-
out of man's role
-
out of the world's appearance
-
out of the world's styles
-
out of the world's standards of modesty
(or lack of...)
-
out of the world's behaviour
-
out of religion
-
out of the world's loudness
-
INTO THE HOME!
-
(See I Timothy
5:11-15; 3:5-7; Titus 1:10; 2:3-5, etc.)
-
They belong in the home as girls, young
ladies, women and aged women!
-
Men - your place is...
-
out of the world's language
-
out of the world's humor
-
out of religion
-
out of the world's behaviour
-
out of the world's works
-
out of the world's doctrine
-
out of the world's design
-
out of the woman's role
-
out of the world's new ways and lifestyles
-
away from the home INTO LIVING RIGHT
- living soberly , righteously, godly, in this
present world... zealous of good works.
-
(See Titus
2:7,8; 12,13; etc.)
Modern day inventions
have taken us OUT of our homes to the world's ways...
Modern day inventions have brought
the ways of the world INTO our homes!
Do we not see the
evil in those two statements?
Thus
were they defiled with their own works,
and
went a whoring with their own inventions.
Psalm 106:39
Lo,
this only have I found, that God hath made man upright;
but
they have sought out many inventions.
Ecclesiastes
7:29
Been bewitched?
O foolish
Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth,
before
whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among
you?
Galatians
3:1
Beware
lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit,
after
the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world,
and
not after Christ.
Colossians
2:8
We ARE to
live differently!
-
Romans 1:17:
For
therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it
is written, The just shall live by faith.
-
Romans 6:2:
God
forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
-
Romans 6:8:
Now
if
we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
-
Romans 8:13:
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the
Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
-
Romans 14:8:
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die
unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
-
I Corinthians
9:14: Even so hath the Lord ordained that
they
which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
-
II Corinthians
4:11: For we which live are alway delivered
unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made
manifest in our mortal flesh.
-
II Corinthians
5:15: And that he died for all, that they
which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto
him which died for them, and rose again.
-
Galatians 2:19:
For
I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
-
Galatians 2:20:
I
am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth
in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith
of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
-
Galatians 3:11:
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident:
for, The just shall live by faith.
-
Galatians 5:25:
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
-
Philippians
1:21: For to me to live is Christ, and
to die is gain.
-
I Thessalonians
5:10: Who died for us, that, whether
we wake or sleep, we should live together WITH him.
-
II Timothy
2:11: It is a faithful saying: For if we
be dead with him, we shall also live WITH him:
-
Titus 2:12:
Teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Unfortunately,
living - or even attempting to live a successful life of separation is
not well received!
-
Remember Paul?
-
...it is
not fit that he should live.
-
be called the
enemy -
-
Galatians 4:16
- Am I therefore become your enemy, because
I tell you the truth?
-
loved less
-
II Corinthians
12:15 - And I will very gladly spend and
be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be
loved.
-
suffer persecution
-
II Timothy
3:12 - Yea, and all that will live godly
in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
We must still
work in the world - or leave earth!
-
I Corinthians
5:9-13
-
verse 13
-
It is about a person - not just sin,
etc.
-
Hate that person?
-
No!
-
But put him/her away from among yourselves!
-
Hate that persons' work!
-
Yes!
-
Psalm 101:3
- I will set no wicked thing before mine
eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
So, is this
separated life ONLY a command from the Old Testament to the Jews?
False starts - False responses:
-
Asceticism
-
They say that Christians are not of
this world, so they must get away from the world completely.
-
Hermits, monasteries, caves, deserts
and the wilderness, etc.
-
They believe that in order to enjoy
God, they must get away from man.
-
However, where ever we go, we take sin
with us! It is that simple!
-
Legalism
-
Practicing Old Testament / Gospel teachings
-
An attempt at getting rid of worldliness,
separation will be achieved
-
Getting rid of things can make a great
outward show, but it will leave life empty and void and disillusioned
-
Bondage all over again
-
It isn't following Paul!
-
Compromise
-
Compromise says we must try to make
Christianity appealing to the world by making it like the world, but the
end result is that the world takes over.
-
Giving into the worldly ways, etc. traditions
of men, etc.
-
Paul's worry - II
Corinthians 11:1-4; Colossians 2:8
-
Compromise is nothing new.
-
See
II Chronicles 19:1,2
-
See Ezra
and Nehemiah
Tonight
Part II
You know, as Christ cut our soul
away from our flesh,
we would think that we could
at least try to cut our flesh away from the world?
-
Are there any benefits of living
a separated life?
-
What is holding some of us back from
a life of more separation?
-
Where are we guiding (pushing) our
children towards? Christ or the World?
-
For what are we guiding our children
towards? Eternal life with Christ or fighting Christ?
-
For who are we guiding our children
towards? Christ or Belial?
-
Who is Belial?
Tonight, in part
II, we will answer those questions as we will consider in detail,
II
Corinthians 6:14-18
