... But ...

These are the verses that we 'expound' during the audio sermons - on what is 'before' and 'after' the conjunction 'but.'  There are more than we cover so as you read, take notice and see the contrasts.

Rom:4:24: But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom:5:11: And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Rom:5:13: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom:5:20: Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

Rom:6:11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom:6:17: But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Rom:6:22: But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Rom:6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom:7:6: But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Rom:8:6: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Rom:8:9: But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Rom:8:10: And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Rom:8:11: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Rom:8:15: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Rom:8:26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Rom:11:11: I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

1Cor:1:18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1Cor:1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

1Cor:2:5: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

1Cor:3:6,7: I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.  So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

1Cor:3:10: According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

1Cor:3:15: If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

1Cor:4:14: I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

1Cor:6:11: And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

1Cor:6:12: All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

1Cor:8:6: But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

1Cor:9:25: And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

1Cor:10:23: All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

1Cor:13:6: Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

1Cor:13:12: For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1Cor:13:13: And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1Cor:14:1: Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

1Cor:14:20: Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

2Cor:1:9: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

2Cor:1:12: For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

2Cor:1:24: Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

2Cor:2:4: For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

2Cor:4:5: For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

2Cor:4:8,9: We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

2Cor:4:12: So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

2Cor:4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2Cor:7:9: Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

2Cor:7:10: For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Part II
Sermon Audio 2

2Cor:10:10: For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

2Cor:10:12: For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

2Cor:12:19: Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

Gal:1:7: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Gal:1:12: For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Gal:2:2: And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

Gal:2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Gal:4:17: They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

Gal:5:10: I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

Gal:6:15: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Eph:2:19: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Eph:2:4: But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Eph:4:9: (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

Eph:4:15: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Eph:4:20: But ye have not so learned Christ;

Eph:4:29: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Eph:5:11: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Eph:5:13: But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Eph:5:15: See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Eph:5:17: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Eph:6:4: And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Eph:6:6: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Eph:6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Phil:1:12: But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Phil:1:28: And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

Phil:1:29: For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Phil:2:3: Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Phil:3:7: But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Phil:3:8: Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Phil:3:13: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Phil:4:6: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Phil:4:10: But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

1Thes:2:18: Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

1Thes:4:7: For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

1Thes:5:9: For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

2Thes:2:13: But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

2Thes:3:13: But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

1Tm:2:10: But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1Tm:2:12: But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

1Tm:2:14: And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

1Tm:4:8: For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

1Tm:4:12: Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Part III
Audio Sermon
(not preached yet...)

1Tm:5:13: And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

1Tm:5:19: Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

1Tm:6:9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

1Tm:6:17: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

2Tm:1:7: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2Tm:1:8: Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

2Tm:2:9: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

2Tm:2:14: Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

2Tm:2:16: But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

2Tm:2:22: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2Tm:2:23: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

2Tm:2:24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2Tm:3:5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2Tm:3:9,10: But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

2Tm:3:13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

2Tm:3:14: But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

2Tm:4:3: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

2Tm:4:5: But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

2Tm:4:8: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2Tm:4:13: The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

Ti:1:15,16: Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Ti:3:2: To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
