Blessed are the Dads Who Know
the Joyful Sound

Let me talk to the dad's today!

Do you want to die like an Absalom, a man who had it all, including three sons who could have carried on his name,
but wasted it away having only a pillar after his own name!
II Samuel 14:25-27; 18:17,18
or...
...would you rather be able to claim Psalm 89:15...
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

A few Biblical numbers show some curious possible conclusions concerning 'dad's' and the importance of their role as a man.

Father
1126x
320x Mother
Fathers
549x
8x Mothers
Men
1677x
179x Women
He
10431x
982x She
Son
2393x
327x Daughter
Husband
126x
407x Wife

And yet, the biblical importance and roles of the man have been switched around in most homes these days, including a Bible home!

Has the strong man in the world, the church and the family gone so far as to be helpless these days.  Well, only if one does not get to KNOW GOD like he ought.  A man who knows God, (and I don't mean knowing "ABOUT" God) is a blessed man.

True, he won't have that many friends - in many cases, even his own family will give him difficulties and challenges; they may even disown him and some even abhor him - hate him!  And how many men of God are even 'allowed' to maintain that Biblical status in the workplace these days?

But... the godly man (and I don't mean that Kingdom of Heaven 'holy' hypocrite) - I mean that man who loves God, loves His Book and not only tries to follow Paul's instructions towards a 'holy' and 'pleasing' godly walk, but is also concerned about HOW it is done - with grace and a true peace and joy and walk in God's righteousness!

That kind of man is a blessing of a man - a blessing of a husband - and a blessing of a dad!

That dad will know the joyful sound of...
Sound Faith
A characteristic of the godly older man! Titus 2:1,2  That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
There is a need to rebuke those with a false faith!  Titus 1:13  This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

Note:  two faiths mentioned - sound in faith and sound in the faith!
Faith IN gives you the faith OF!

Blessings in the faith of Christ:
The righteousness of God!  Romans 3:21,22  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Justification!  Galatians 2:16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Live the daily life!  Galatians 2:20   I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Given to us by believing!  Galatians 3:22  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

We can & does meet with God boldly and confidently!  Ephesians 3:12   In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.  Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Philippians 3:8,9  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Sound Heart
Blessings in a sound heart:
Not be ashamed of the Bible!   Psalm 119:80  Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.

Peace from God will keep our hearts and minds...!  Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We won't faint... we can be troubled on every side yet we won't have to be distressed!  We can be perplexed, but not in despair; we won't be forsaken, and we won't be destroyed!  II Corinthians 4:7-10   But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us  We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

Sound Words

We are told to Hold Fast...   II Timothy 1:13  Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Blessings in sound words:
God won't look upon you like you are any of these... I Timothy 6:3   If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;  He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,  Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.  But godliness with contentment is great gain.  You won't fall into the gain is godly crowd, either!

God's sound words will work on you...I Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Remember the chart about God's words, The Voice from Heaven?  All of God's words are righteousness, there is nothing froward or perverse in them.  Proverbs 8:8  We are to diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God.  Exodus 15:6.

His sound words are: from God Himself, above His name, pure, preserved, sweet to eat, life, certainty, acceptable, upright, truth, everlasting, peace making, prophetic, spirit, power, nourishment, faithful, true, the gospel, are not bound, are the sword of the spirit, milk, honey, bread, meat, quick, powerful, sharper than any 2-edged sword, an incorruptible seed, a more sure word of prophecy, God's record and are royal.

God's sound words will give light, give protection, answer prayer, provide salvation, cast out spirits, cleanse your sin away, keep sin from 'sticking,' keep you from sin, stir up the family, dwell in us, abide forever, endure forever, work effectually in you, convince the lost, bear fruit, hold it all together, quicken, give comfort, guidenace, strengthen, stablish, bring mercies, give answers, uphold, discern, give hope, keep us from being ashamed!

God's sound words are words of judgment, understanding, truth, knowledge, wisdom, eternal life, soberness and righteousness!

Sound Mind
A Sound Mind is given to you through the mind of Christ!
I Corinthians 2:16   For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Philippians 2:5   Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Blessings in having a Sound Mind:
Instead of having a mind of fear...   II Timothy 1:7,8  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mindBe not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;     Again, no need for being ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of the King James Bible, nor of Paul, or actually and hopefully, not even your pastor - or anyone concerned about your soul!
Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Hebrews 13:17  Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Sound Wisdom
Blessings in having God's own Wisdom:
Knowing that the wisdom would come from God's own mouth would make God Himself be our buckler, if we heed to his mouth, that is... Proverbs 2:6,7  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

Be like a fruit tree planted by the rivers of water...  Psalm 1:1-3  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.   And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

"Them' referring to knowledge and understanding concluding in God's wisdom... they shall be life unto thy soul and grace!!!  We will walk safely and not stumble.  We will have a sweet and peaceful sleep.  We will not fear any sudden fear and we won't fear the tribulation and judgment that is coming - the wrath of God - The mouth of God will truly be our confidence!!!
Proverbs 3:21-26   My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:   So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumbleWhen thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweetBe not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Sound Doctrine
Blessings in Sound Doctrine:
Knowing that the law is for 'them,' not you, we can then use it lawfully with the purpose of establishing the law - resulting in peace, joy and righteousness for God's glory, not our own!   I Timothy 1:8-10  But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,  For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;   Romans 10:4: For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believethRomans 3:31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

He must endure the Biblical reproof, the correction, the instruction in righteousness, so that our families won't fall into the trap of fables! II Timothy 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

He would be able to stop the mouths of the gainsayers.  He may not convince them, but they will be 'shut up!'  Titus 1:9-11   Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.  For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

He can know his place as a Christian man and know how to prepare the entire family!  Titus 2:1+  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

Sound Music
Blessings in Knowing God's Music:
He can know the distinction between not only the world's music and "Christian" music, he can see the dangerous problems in 'Christian music' itself.  In other words, he can know what music - what voice-  is still healthy to us and pleasing to God!  He does not need to fall into the barbarian trap that music puts forth to the world, be it 'Christian' or 'other!'  I Corinthians 14:7-11   And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?  For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?  So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.  There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

We can know music that is actually good for us to 'think on' as we listen to it:  Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We can have the confidence and assurance that we can praise God with music that actually praises and pleases Him - not us nor the devil!  Psalm 150:3  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Sound Children
Blessings in training children God's ways:  Children are an heritage to the Lord, we should care for them knowing that the little arrows in the quiver are truly God's reward!  Psalm 127:3  Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Blessings in our children resulting from our own walk as a Christian man:
Dad will rejoice in having children that love godly wisdom!  Proverbs 29:3  Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father:

The dad will greatly rejoice, 'enjoy' their kids and be glad!
Proverbs 23:24,25  The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.  Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
Proverbs 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon.  A wise son maketh a glad father...
Proverbs 15:20 A wise son maketh a glad father:

Dad delights in his sons - his correction proves it!  Proverbs 3:12  For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Children can be the crown for grandpa and glory for dad!  Proverbs 17:6  Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Jesus Coming
Blessings in Knowing the Lord's coming back 'soon' and then once again for the final gathering:
Rapture
We will finally put on incorruption completely!  We will put immortality!  Death will lose the rest of the sting!  The grave will lose the rest of the battle!  We will then be steadfast, umnmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord... it won't all be in vain!  I Corinthians 15:51-58  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

We will have no sorrow as the others do in this world - we have the hope, they don't!  We are comforted not only in these words but in what they tell us - that Jesus Christ is coming 'anytime!'  I Thessalonians 4:13-17  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The Second Coming
We can know about the apostasy of Christians and how it all is 'going down!'  We have nothing to fear - we will not be here for this stuff, but we can sure try to warn others still!  II Thessalonians 2:2-6+   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?  And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

It will make us diligent in our service to the Lord instead of with the world!   II Timothy 4:8,9,10,21   Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.   Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world... 21: Do thy diligence to come before winter.

If you know the blessed sound, you will walk in the light of God's countenance - what a place to walk, eh?

Do you need to turn up some light, though?

Sound Prayer
How about the sound of prayer?  I Timothy 2:8  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Sound Fellowship with the Lord
How about blessings from the sound of fellowship with the Lord?
1Corinthians 1:9  God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

...or the sounds of wrong fellowship!
I Corinthians 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
II Corinthians 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Ephesians 5:11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Philippians 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
I John 1:3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
I John 1:6,7  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
John 14:23: Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
