Blessed Assurance
Rightly Divided, of course!

Looking at the words to the hymn Blessed Assurance, one would
think that is about our assurance being based on our walk of obedience,
etc.
Today, we will look at the way of God more perfectly when it
comes to this assurance. Is our salvation the only assurance we can
have today?
Old Testament assurance was based on their obedient
walk.
Deuteronomy 28:58-68
Isaiah 32:17
Of course, that will also do for the Gospels as well as the Tribulation.
A holy walk is imperative to 'know' that their salvation is assured.
Assurance of Being Risen!
We do see in Acts 17:31, God has
given assurance unto all men, in that he hat raised
him from the dead.
We see that it was given UNTO all men - they don't have to believe
it - they can know!
We also have that power from God in that when we die, He will also
raise us up!
Ephesians 1:19,20
Assurance of our being SEALED
So, yes! We can be assured of our salvation as well.
But the word that we need to seek for that assurance is SEAL.
Ephesians 1:13
Ephesians 4:30
II Timothy 2:19
Our assurance is based NOT on our walk, but on the Bible telling us
about being SEALED!
Paul's rightly dividing assurance!
So, concerning 'assurance' we see from Paul's epistles that assurance
today is in having an understanding of Paul's gospel!
Colossians 2:2 -
...riches of the full assurance of understanding
I Thessalonians 1:5 - "our gospel"
came in much assurance, as ye know what manner
of men WE were among you...
1. We can have an assurance of
our salvation - God's way!
2. We can ALSO have an assurance of understanding
through Paul's writings...
...the way of God, MORE PERFECTLY!
So, when you sing Blessed Assurance, think of the understanding
that you have from rightly dividing with Paul - not just of your salvation!
