The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land
Song of Solomon 2:12
Since we have heard about how the Raven helped Elijah,
we are now going to see what we can learn from birds.

While this series appears to be geared towards getting our little children involved,
there will be plenty for us adults to learn from these birds, too.

Part VII

Bird Food and Precious Seed
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Luke 8:11

Look around the church with your eyes (not your fingers...), these birds seem to have no home!

P.S. - I am no bird expert; these are just a few things I have read or observed...

NESTS/HOMES

FOOD/SEED

God also allows us to help Him take care of these birds!
Build birdhouses Put out Feed Birds even know "when" to get ready for Winter.

We are of different flesh than birds, though!
I Corinthians 15:39 - All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

But there is one seed that is precious to all of us!
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalm 126:6
Word of God Let's look at that parable.  We can learn how the seed, the word of God, can be handled today as it was told in the days of the gospels.

KJB - the seed!

Let's just read through this parable - a story with a moral lesson - and throw a few comments in there for us today.

Luke 8
4: And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5: A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6: And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7: And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8: And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9: And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

11: Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12: Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13: They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14: And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15: But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Note verse 14 as it is stated in Matthew and Mark, too.
Matthew 13:22 - He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mark 4:18,19 - And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

We still must recognize that tomorrow will depend
on how and what we plant and water today!

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one:
and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
I Corinthians 3:6-8

Yes, the increase is certainly all His, but we certainly must:
