Introduction
Romans
1:9-32 to
1:1a
For Parents Towards
Their Children!
1:9-13
-
Parents, make this request in your
prayers - without ceasing:
-
1:10 - Making
request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey
by the will of God to come unto you.
-
Desire to be prosperous in your parenting
towards your kids
-
1:11 -
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift,
to the end ye may be established;
-
You want them to to understand God's
way!
-
1:12 - That
is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both
of you and me.
-
Comforted WITH your kids together.
1:13
- Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren,
that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that
I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
-
Would have fruit as parent among
the kids as well as the kids themselves having fruit of their own.
1:14
- I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to
the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
-
You have learned from everyone...
1:15
- So, as much as in me is, I am ready to
preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
-
You are ready to preach this stuff
to your children!
-
Some people get married and have children
way to soon!
-
They may think they are ready "mentally"
but
they just are not ready "spiritually" - let alone "parentally!"
-
(Except for a bunch of
baloney worldly ungodly anti-god parenting classes!)
-
Love and flesh can be blind, but it
is the kids who suffer the most!
1:16
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
-
You are not ashamed of what you want
your children to learn about the risen Christ.
-
II Timothy
1:8 - Be not thou therefore ashamed of
the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker
of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
1:17-20
- For therein is the righteousness
of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live
by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because
that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed
it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the
world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even
his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
-
These verses are why you need to
teach your kids according to the gospel of Paul!
-
They already know what they need to
know!
-
They have both the devil's grip and
God's knowledge when they start out in life!
-
Because God gives us what we need to
know when we are born, we are all without excuse.
-
See 2:1a
- Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man...
-
The devil wants
our kids to be untaught!
-
Parents must unteach
them...
-
...or hire people
to do it for them!
-
He has a head
start with them, too.
-
Psalm 58:3
- The
wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born,
speaking lies.
1:21-22
- Because that, when they knew God,
they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in
their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves
to be wise, they became fools,
-
They grow up
to be fools by...
-
21
- not glorifying him as God!
-
21
- not being thankful!
-
21
- they are taught to become vain in their imaginations!
-
21
- foolish heart becomes darkened!
-
22
- As a result, they profess to be wise, they become fools!
23,
25, 28 - 23 - And changed the glory of
the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to
birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Who changed the truth
of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the
Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. And even as they did
not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate
mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
-
What they will do as fools!
-
23
- change the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to
corruptible man, etc.
-
25
- change the truth of God into a lie!
-
25
- worship and serve the creature more than the Creator...!
-
28
- they do not like to retain God in their knowledge!
24,
26,27, 29-32 - Wherefore God also gave
them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour
their own bodies between themselves: For this cause God gave them
up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use
into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the
natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men
with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that
recompence of their error which was meet. Being filled with all unrighteousness,
fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder,
debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without
understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable,
unmerciful:
-
Bad results as they grow up
-
Reprobate mind...
-
check the list ...
32
- Who knowing the judgment of God, that
they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same,
but have pleasure in them that do them.
-
They will have
pleasure in them that do them.
-
That hurts parents
even more!
Not
only must we continue what God has started in our children,
we must also SHOW
THEM BY EXAMPLE and be their ENSAMPLE!
I see our kids learning by our own visual example more than what we
are teaching them directly!
I see the parents in them more than the textbooks and my SS, etc.
I see none responding to the horn!
To be an example as they learn from an example!
In order for our children to be an example of the believers, they must
be taught how by our example!
I Timothy 4:11-13 - These
things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an
example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit,
in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation,
to doctrine.
Salvation
for kids
-
Kids can learn all the details of salvation
as they grow up.
-
Kids must also know their standing now
as "little kids."
-
Kids can not trust - they do good to
obey.
-
Asking Jesus into their hearts is not
salvation, neither is believing in Jesus.
-
I am glad they trust their parents -
that is their learning seed.
-
I am glad they believe in Jesus!
-
They will know when sin revives in them
and they die spiritually. Right now, they have no law, thus no transgression!
-
Romans 7:8-11;
Romans 4:15; Galatians 3:20-29
-
But they can and must know what it is
to be in a Christian family!
-
They can learn things we do and do not
do.
-
They can know how we are to behave -
our manner of life around the house as well as outside the home
-
Girls should led by the example of a
godly mom to grow up to be a godly woman.
-
Boys should be led by the example of
a godly man to grow up to be a godly man!
-
Not just from teachings - but by example
- ensample!
-
Not just 'doing,' but 'being' what they
should do and be as a child.
-
The heart will come eventually - IF
it is all done in love and led by a walk according to Paul.
Wrong adult example
-
The adult example must be more than
showing the frustrations, confusion, unhappiness and religious hypocrisy...
-
along with poor wisdom, little understanding
because of religious / Bible talk and teachings!
Parenting extremes either way!
-
Parents want them to do right so
badly within their 'religious standards...
-
I am seeing more and more examples of
physical and mental abuse from frustrated and angry parents!
-
beatings
-
shame
-
humiliation
-
embarrass the kid
-
yell and shouting
-
arguing with 'the little ones'
or
-
Parents can give their kids over
to the world to spoil them.
-
Colossians
2:8
-
Not after
Christ!
-
philosophy
-
vain deceit
-
tradition of men
-
rudiments of the world
-
Ephesians 4:17-24
-
Not from Christ!
-
teach the vanity of their mind
-
be alienated from the life of God
-
through the ignorance that is in them
-
and because of the blindness of their
heart.
-
become past feeling
-
give themselves over unto lasciviousness
-
work all uncleanness with greediness.
-
vs 20,21 -
But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and
have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus
-
Ephesians 4:22-24
-
They will learn and develop the conversation of their old man when that
sin revives and they are not prepared for it!
-
corrupt according to their own deceitful lusts!
-
a closed mind of the world's ways
-
live a life of unrighteousness and unholiness - or a false holiness in
appearance only!
Would Parents Really ...?
-
Would a parent actually choose to blind the heart of their children?
-
Would a parent actually give their child to the world to spoil them in
the ways of that world?
-
Do they really think their kids are strong enough to fight the system and
without the whole armour of God?
-
Ephesians 6:11 -
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil.
-
Sure!
-
and more and more without hesitation!
-
too busy!
-
love of money!
-
wrong in their own wisdom!
-
as they fight the right way, when they finally give in, it is too late
for the kids!
-
hypocrites!
-
loud
-
lazy
-
prideful
-
selfish
-
trust the preacher and the church to figure it out for them!
-
easier to get mad at the preacher or just put the Book down and ignore
it and to blame someone else than accept responsibility yourself!
Yes, of course - we probably already know this stuff!
But it is so great to see it FROM the Scriptures instead of some pastoral
opinion or 'personal words of man's wisdom' and preaching psychology!
