AWE
n. awe. [to be astonished.]
1.  Fear mingled with admiration or reverence; reverential fear.
Stand in awe and sin not.  Ps. 4.
2.  Fear; dread inspired by something great, or terrific.

AWE, v.t.  To strike with fear and reverence; to influence by fear, terror or respect; as, his majesty awed them into silence.

AWFUL
[awe and full.]
1.  That strikes with awe; that fills with profound reverence; as the awful majesty of Jehovah.
2.  That fills with terror and dread; as the awful approach of death.
Common people use this word in the sense of frightful, ugly, detestable.

Astonied

ASTON'ISH, v.t.  [L. attono, to astonish; ad and tono.  See Tone and Stun.]
To stun or strike dumb with sudden fear, terror, surprise or wonder; to amaze; to confound with some sudden passion.

What have they done to God's Word today?
It is not even recognizable!

The NIV/Message quotes:
I Corinthians 6:9-10
KJV "9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

NIV - 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

TM (p.410) - "Unjust people who don't care about God will not be joining in his kingdom. Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth and everything in it, don't qualify as citizens in God’s kingdom."

Comment: This interpretation panders to the Green and New Age movements by adding environmental sin. It also seeks to be non-offensive to homosexuals. So, once again we see that ‘The Message’ has no strength in addressing homosexual behaviour. This politically correct approach is consistent throughout the entire book. ‘The Message’ will have no trouble being acceptable to the authors of the false One World Church system that is currently being implemented by the United Nations and the World Council Of Churches and ratified by the apostate denominations who are supporters of the Ecumenical Movement.   - Hughie Seaborn

I Corinthians 11:11-12
KJV "11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God."

NIV " - 11 In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God."

TM (p. 421) - "Don't, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women. Neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first, as a beautiful shining reflection of God - that is true. But the head on a woman's body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her "head," her husband. The first woman came from man, true - but ever since then, every man comes from a woman! And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let's quit going through these "who's first" routines."

Isaiah 52:14 - As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Are we ever astonied at the wickedness of this day - within Christianity, church, family, home?
Ezra 9:3,4 - And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.  Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.
There will come a day again... that THEY will be astonied!
Not "awesome" - not "awful" - and it will be to late for even "awe."

They will be ASTONIED!

Daniel 3:24,25 - Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellers, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?  They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.   He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
