the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:26
-
with the Scriptures Rightly Divided - II
Timothy 2:15
|
You Have Asked God...
...but you still have not received?
|
Did you not ask correctly? Did you not believe strong enough?
Are you not in God's will? Maybe you haven't obeyed ALL the commandments
yet? Why do others seem to have their prayers answered? What
have you done wrong for these things to happen to you - or to your children,
etc.?
Well, once again, we see the serious need to rightly divide 'prayer.'
Praise the Lord for his spiritual
blessings in our lives!
Praise the Lord for HIS increase
in our lives, personal, home and church, etc.!
Praise the Lord for the gain
that HE has given us! (Remember how it comes about - II
Corinthians 9:10-14 - from the brethren!)
Today, we look at the word 'ask.'
Notice again how rightly dividing the word of truth simply exposes the
false application of prayer power!
To claim the following verses today only causes
'Christians' to lose faith and lose confidence in the truth of the Scriptures
and puts forth a false testimony to truth - and sends folks over to the
pentecostal side - where the devil is the one who will make these things
appear to happen as we near the Tribulation (Revelation
16:14)!
-
Matthew 21:22 - And
all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
-
Luke 11:9 - And
I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
-
John 11:22 - But
I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it
thee.
-
John 14:14 - If
ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
-
John 16:23 - And
in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever
ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
-
James 1:5,6 -
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven
with the wind and tossed.
-
James 4;2,3 - Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye
fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive
not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
-
I John 3:22 - And
whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments,
and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
-
I John 5:14,15 - And
this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according
to his will, he heareth us: : And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever
we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
What Does Paul Say About 'ASKING?'
Just one verse - Ephesians
3:20,21 - Now unto him that is able
to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to
the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ
Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
-
Note: the power for Paul then (Ephesians
3:7) was still B.B. (Before the Book). We see that
very power through the Holy Spirit today in the Scriptures.
I Thessalonians 2:12.
-
Note: What about I
Corinthians 14:35 - ladies asking husband being silent in the
church, etc. - that was just B.B.!
Requests
Note that we can still make requests
- because Paul tells us to make requests!
Philippians 4:6 - Be
careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
-
Paul towards us... Romans
1:9-11 - For God is my witness, whom I
serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing
I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request,
if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the
will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart
unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
Note in verse
13, he couldn't always go to them! (Note:
Pray that "Paul" would come to you and others!
II Thessalonians 3:1 - Finally,
brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course,
and be glorified, even as it is with you:)
-
True Joy for Paul - the people!
- Philippians 1:1-11 - ...making request
with joy. See also Philippians
4:1 - Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved
and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly
beloved. His people were a joy
to him - it was a joy to pray for them!
-
(P.S. - Do you know his requests he has made for you?
Do you make them for others, too? - Ephesians
1:16-20; 3:14-19; Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 1:9-11)
Cease Not
Note that says that Paul CEASED
NOT to pray for them AFTER he heard of their faith in the
Lord Jesus, and heard HIS doctrine preached - II
Thessalonians 3:6; 3:14 - our word
by this epistle... etc.
-
Ephesians 1:15,16 - Wherefore
I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all
the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention
of you in my prayers;
-
Romans 1:8,9 -
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith
is spoken of throughout the whole world... ...that without ceasing
I make mention of you always in my prayers;
-
Colossians 4:12 -
Epaphras... always labouring fervently for you in prayers...
-
I Thessalonians 1:2
- We give thanks ALWAYS for you all, making mention of you in our
prayers.
-
II Timothy 1:3-5 -
...that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers
night and day;
-
Philemon 1:4,5 -
... making mention of thee always in my prayers,...
Have you ceased?
-
Too busy?
-
Given up?
-
No longer a joy? Was it ever a joy?
-
Are these difficult and sad situations - situations where there is NO faith
in the Lord - rebellion, etc.?? Remember Philippians
4:6 - Be careful for nothing;
-
We ought to be able to understand the situations
around us today - even with our own children as they get older.
I Corinthians 4:8: We are troubled on every
side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.
-
Confused about prayer?
-
Wondered about 'no power' in your prayer?
-
Rightly Dividing should help you greatly!
(Tough Love is still coming for a sermon)
Romans 8:26,
... for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought...
...but we still should make our requests known unto God!
Why? Because Paul tells us to!
Now THAT is the rightly divided truth!
You trusted Him with your soul, now Trust Him with your
life...
...talk to Him about it!
Don't our own children do the same with us as parents?
Or is that another thing of the past concerning parenting
skills?
Pray for each other! We Must! We
are family!
If any man trust to himself that he is
Christ's, let him of himself think this again,
that, as he is Christ's, even so are we
Christ's.
II Corinthians 10:7
