What's
In the Gospels "FOR" Us?
XXXI
|
Now
all these things happened unto them for ensamples:
and
they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are
come.
I
Corinthians 10:11
For
whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that
we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Romans
15:4
Remember,
the Gospels are still in the Old Testament doctrinally!
Hebrews
9:16,17
The Gospels
are not TO us!
However, there
is still much within those Gospels FOR us!
Highlights from
the Gospels showing all that is falsely applied today!
Here is how To read the Gospels
for 'Paul-Following' Christians
Jesus is warning the Disciples about their own persecution
that was about to come - The Great Commission
and if accepted, right into the Tribulation - thus we
feel all the Trib books (Hebrews to Jude)
AFTER Paul's books!
This is the
real Lord's prayer! The 'other' one (Matthew
6:9-13) is just Jesus teaching the disciples
how they should pray. That should be called the 'Disciples Prayer.'
Here, we have
recorded Jesus' actual prayer.
1:
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father,
the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
-
"... lifted up his eyes to heaven ..."
-
Do we have a pattern for 'prayer position'
& 'posture?'
-
fold hands; bow; kneel; prostrate; close eyes, etc.
or is it a parental thing to the kids to keep them quiet and/or be able
to concentrate?
-
Old Testament
-
Psalms 95:6: O
come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD
our maker.
-
(Proverbs
24:33: Yet a little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to sleep:)
-
I Kings 8:54: And
it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer
and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the
LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
-
II Chronicles 6:13:
For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits
broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court:
and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the
congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
-
Luke 22:41: And
he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and
prayed,
-
Acts 7:60: And
he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin
to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
-
Paul
-
Acts 21:5: And
when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and
they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out
of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
-
Actually, the meaning of closed eyes was not a good
thing!
-
Acts 28:27: For
the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing,
and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their
eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should
be converted, and I should heal them.
-
Paul stated that very knee will bow! - now? or later?
-
Romans 14:11:
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to
me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
-
Philippians 2:10:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven,
and things in earth, and things under the earth;
-
I Thessalonians 5:17:
Pray without ceasing.
-
Can't be any specific posture or pattern, eh!
-
Ephesians 1:16 - Cease
not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
-
Colossians 1:9 -
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray
for you ...
-
Ephesians 6:18 -
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
-
Philippians 1:4 - Always
in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
-
II Timothy 1:3 - I
thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that
without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
-
Romans 1:9 -
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his
Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
-
Romans 12:12 - ...
continuing instant in prayer; ...
-
Colossians 4:12 - Epaphras,
who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring
fervently for you in prayers ...
-
I Thessalonians 3:10 - Night
and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect
that which is lacking in your faith?
-
Lifting up holy hands? Bow knees?
-
I Timothy 2:8 - I
will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without
wrath and doubting.
-
Ephesians 3:14:
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
-
"...glorify
thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:"
-
God's glory is to be the number one concern for a
Christian.
-
Not our happiness / joy / feelings, but His!
-
I Thessalonians 4:1 -
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus,
that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God,
so ye would abound more and more.
-
Not our 'gain' other than spiritual and understanding,
judgment, etc.
-
Ephesians 1:18:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what
is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance
in the saints,
-
Colossians
2:2: That their hearts might be comforted,
being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance
of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of
the Father, and of Christ;
-
I Timothy 6:5a,6
- ...supposing that gain is godliness:
from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
-
Not 'soul winning' - it is just the beginning of
a life to please the father!
-
Not just having a baby; the growth of a child
is what pleases a father!
-
Scroll down for Proverbs
of a child pleasing his dad.
-
Number one goal of a Christian - God's glory!
-
Revelation 4:11 -
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou
hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
-
I Corinthians 10:31: Whether
therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of
God.
-
I Timothy 1:17:
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour
and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
-
Philippians 4:20:
Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
-
Philippians 2:11:
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father.
-
Ephesians 1:17:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto
you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
-
Romans 15:7: Wherefore
receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
-
However, this is what folks are doing today about
God's glory!
-
Romans 1:23: And
changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible
man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
-
In a parent application, does dad 'glorify' his son/daughter
so he/she glorifies their dad?
-
Proverbs 10:1b - ... A
wise son maketh a glad father:
-
Proverbs 17:6 - Children's
children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their
fathers.
-
Proverbs 23:24-26 - The
father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a
wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad,
and she that bare thee shall rejoice. My son, give me thine heart, and
let thine eyes observe my ways.
-
Or negative response:
-
Proverbs 29:1,2 - He,
that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed,
and that without remedy. When the righteous are in authority, the people
rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
-
Proverbs 30:11:
There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their
mother.
-
Proverbs 17:21:
He that begetteh a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool
hath no joy.
-
Colossians 3:21: Fathers,
provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
-
Proverbs 19:26 -
He that wasteth his father, and chasteth away his mother, is a son that
causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
-
Or does the son/daughter's desiring and/or learning
to do right 'shame' the parents, instead!
-
Galatians 4:14-16: And
my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but
received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the
blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible,
ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am
I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
2:
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal
life to as many as thou hast given him.
-
...power over all flesh...?
-
Matthew 28:18: And
Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven
and in earth.
-
Today - separates us from our flesh!
-
Colossians 2:11-15 - In
whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands,
in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of
Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him
through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the
dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was
contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And
having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly,
triumphing over them in it.
-
Hebrews 4:12 - For
the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints
and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
-
Romans 8:8,9 - So
then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the
flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
-
Romans 8:1-4 - There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit
of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned
sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled
in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
-
Romans 8:3 - For
what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending
his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin
in the flesh:
-
Tomorrow - Tribulation - Last days: upon all
flesh!
-
Acts 2:16-18 -
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come
to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon
all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants
and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they
shall prophesy:
-
"...as many as thou hast given him?"
-
Matthew 16:17 - And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for
flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is
in heaven.
-
John 6:44 - No
man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and
I will raise him up at the last day.
-
John 6:65: And
he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except
it were given unto him of my Father.
-
John 6:39: And
this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath
given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last
day.
-
John 17:9: ...for
them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
-
John 17:11: ...whom
thou hast given me...
-
John 17:24: Father,
I will that they also, whom thou hast given me...

God Chose Paul
-
Acts 9:15: But
the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me,
to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
-
Acts 26:16: But
rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose,
to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast
seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
-
Acts 22:14,15:
And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest
know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his
mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen
and heard.
