But What Was He Thinking? |
Psalm 109 is usually attributed to David, as are most Psalms, and so they (commentaries, pastors and scholars, etc.) call this an "imprecatory" Psalm. An imprecatory prayer is one that the person prays for evil to befall a person. That simply means that David is praying that God will kill and damn someone he dislikes.
Some folks even say we can 'claim' this chapter as proof that we can pray evil on someone!
But let's see who this Psalm is really about and who is the speaker
in this Psalm.
Ourselves?
These first 5 verses 'could & should' be applicable to ourselves
if we are doing what we are suppose to be doing, and that is telling our
friends and family (everybody) the truth BECAUSE we love them!
Some of you are well aware of these verses:
I John 3:18
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in
deed and in truth.
II Corinthians 12:15
And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly
I love you, the less I be loved.
Galatians 4:16 Am
I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
And certainly, these first 5 verses could be attributed to David as he sure did have his enemies who were after him, too.
But even with these things in mind, the rest of this chapter would be a strange "prayer of love" for us as well as for David because this prayer in Psalm 109 is a seriously damning prayer!
If the verses are applied to Jesus Christ, (vs..
1-5), a great deal could be cleared up
and it certainly would be very fitting for Jesus Christ because....
...we know His love was absolutely manifest to them all...
Matthew 23:37 O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them
which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children
together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and
ye would not!
I Timothy 1:14-16
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love
which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of
all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;
of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me
first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern
to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
... we know His enemies DID reward Him evil
for good...
Acts 2:22,23 Ye
men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God
among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the
midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate
counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands
have crucified and slain:
Acts 10:38,39 How
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who
went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both
in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged
on a tree:
... we know that He did "give Himself to
prayer!"
Matthew 26:39 And
he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my
Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not
as I will, but as thou wilt.
Mark 1:35 And
in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out,
and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Luke 5:16
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Luke 9:28,29 And
it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter
and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And
as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment
was white and glistering.
Luke 22:32 (to
Peter) But
I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted,
strengthen thy brethren.
John 17:1-26
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father,
the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
there are many more examples of His prayer life.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory...
Galatians 5:26
(For many walk, of whom I have told you
often,
and now tell you even weeping, that they
are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Whose end is destruction, whose God is
their belly,
and whose glory is in their shame,
who mind earthly things.)
Philippians 3:18,19
after His sufferings as well as during His sufferings on the cross... and the prayer is being prayed to and about the antichrist and the devil! |
Psalm 109:6-15
How are you going to grow a church with that kind of message these days,
amen?
I dare Mel Gibson to make a movie about this portion of the crucifixion...
The Lord Jesus of the Bible is the One who spoke some 'surprising
words'
Matthew 23:3-35
Romans 11:7-10 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again. His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
Deuteronomy 28:18-25 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Deuteronomy 28:58-62 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 32:22-25 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
Jeremiah 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
Jeremiah 21:4-7 Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city. And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence. And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
Hosea 1:6 And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Hosea 2:3-6 Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms. For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink. Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.
Isaiah 34:5,6 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
Isaiah 43:28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
Isaiah 65:12-15 Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
Revelation 19:11-21
II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be
revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance
on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence
of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus
is the Christ?
He is antichrist, that denieth the Father
and the Son.
I John 2:22
And every spirit that confesseth not that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:
and this is that spirit of antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.
I John 4:3
They can't even imagine God would say these things let alone
"their Jesus" having anything to do with these words...
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers ...
...ye fools ...
...ye blind guides ...
...ye are of your father the devil ...
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting
fire ...
...if the blind lead the blind they'll
both fall into the ditch ...
...how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
But He did!
An Old Testament Jesus would certainly ruin the 'happiness' of the Marketed
Christian today!
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him;
and without him was not any thing made
that was made.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-3, 14
And without controversy great is the mystery
of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified
in the Spirit, seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on
in the world, received up into glory.
I Timothy 3:16
For there are three that bear record in
heaven,
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost:
and these three are one.
And there are three that bear witness in
earth,
the Spirit, and the water, and the blood:
and these three agree in one.
I John 5:7,8
Psalm 109, in this manner of thinking, doesn't even begin to scratch the itching ears of today's marketed modern imitation Christian, so the Christian world doesn't dare make any reference to Jesus Christ in their writings in regards to this particular chapter.
Rejoicings of Christ are the rejoicings for us, too.
Christ will rejoice (vs
28) and so will we! (tears for the Timothy
godliness crowd and rejoicing for the Romans 1
crowd)
Psalm 58:10 The
righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his
feet in the blood of the wicked.
Psalm 63:7,11
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will
I rejoice. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth
by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
Psalm 68:22,23 The
Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again
from the depths of the sea: That thy foot may be dipped in the blood
of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.
II Thessalonians 1:6-9 Seeing
it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that
trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus
shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from
the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Satanic Trinity
By the way: note the familiar use of the plural (they
in Psalm 109:2,3,4,5) for him
in Revelation
13:4-7, etc.. Satan incarnate
(in the flesh) will be a trinity and he will appear as a man.
Isaiah 14:16 They
that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Revelation 16:13 And
I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon,
and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Satan Heard His Thoughts
Do you know who did hear Isaiah 53:7?
Satan heard Him - Colossians 2:15 And
having spoiled principalities and powers (Ephesians
6:12), he made a shew of them openly, triumphing
over them in it.
Continually before the Lord
Therefore your sin remaineth, andlet not
the sin of his mother be blotted out ... let them be before the LORD continually
(vs. 14-15) - the only place sin remains
continually is the lake of fire
(Isaiah 66:24) as they all died in
their sins!
His Children
Let his children ... let his children ...
let his fatherless children (vs.
9,10,12) hits hard, amen? We can't forget the children
drowning in the flood (Genesis 19:23-25),
the children burning up in Sodom with the queers (Genesis
19:23-25), the children of Achan stoned and burned with him
(Joshua 7:19-26), God allowing all
the children in Bethlehem under two years old to be murdered (Matthew
2), and God commanding Saul to kill children under a year old
(I Samuel 15:3); the families of the
accusers of Daniel (Daniel 6:23,24.)
Much of the prayer, here, is aimed not just at the antichrist, but at all Israel in their rejection of Christ; and it must never be forgotten that this was their own request when they murdered Him (Acts 7:51-52 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:).
His blood be on us and on our children (Matthew 27:25).
The man in this spotlight of Psalm
109:
1. loved money (vs. 10,11)
2. loved to steal (vs 11)
3. rejected His own Messiah (vs 2)
4. showed no mercy to poor people (vs
16)
5. killed people whose hearts were already broken (vs
16)
6. loved cursing (vs 18)
7. swore falsely on a covenant and broke it (Daniel
9:27)
8. made a covenant with death and hell (Isaiah
28:15)
9. let people think he was God (II Thessalonians
2:2-6)
and then killed anyone who wouldn't worship him.
The imprecations in this prayer are answered if this person winds up in hell, and this is where the antichrist and Satan will wind up. Job 30:30 describes the condition exactly; also the last four verses in Ezekiel 20:45-49.
The reason that most folks take the 'soft line' here is because they have sold Jesus Christ out and deserted Him when He spoke in a manner that THEY would not speak in. He affects their happiness!
Their beliefs today speak of cowardice, infidelity, lack of understanding and betrayal of a sacred trust. They want to maintain their 'holy' and 'sanctified' reputation and their so-called "sweet, friendly & loving" testimony at the Lord's expense!
Our Lord's adversaries will eventually be clothed not only in filthy
rags (Isaiah 64:6) but in cursing (vs
18), shame, and confusion (vs 29).
The one who would condemn our souls (vs 31)
is Satan, and it is for our benefit that the Holy Spirit recorded Romans
8:34 in the New Testament. Notice when folks try to accuse God
of 'sending' folks to Hell? It is really the devil who does, NOT
GOD!
