The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and study Paul's writings to apply the 'TO!"

With my 25,000+ students in my teaching career -
I have had my share of parent teacher conferences.
Why do we parents not want to think our kids are 'bad.'
Kids, you ought to really thank me!
-
When I preach about parenting, I make your parents mad; so they often rebel
and go against what I preach when it comes to 'things' for you.
-
You start receiving...
-
the newest videos / video games
-
swimming pools
-
trampolines
-
new clothes like what the other kids in the neighborhood are wearing
-
staying up later and sleeping in more often
-
got to go to some local area activities that you never were able to attend
before
-
get to play with kids you never could have played with before
-
you get to have more 'fun.'
Why do we parents not want to think
our kids are 'bad.'
1) we admit they will do a 'few wrong things.' -
-
but not really bad, ya know...
2) my kid's aren't so bad...
3) those kids will affect my kids in a bad way...
4) Pride
-
"we taught our kids to do right!"
-
parents are embarrassed, so they discipline harshly!
-
"we taught our own, so..."
-
somebody else's fault
-
Scriptures on parental pride:
-
Proverbs 10:1
-
13:1
-
15:5,20
-
22:15
-
28:7,24
-
30:11,17
-
Proverbs show that moms take it harder than dads!
-
what will parents do to protect their children / or their own parental
image?
-
lie on tests for their kids?
-
cheat on tests for their kids?
-
I know two mothers here who did!
5) Do we still do the Great Commission concept?
-
We expect them to do right, and to know on their own!
-
through their christian home?
-
your example?
-
osmosis????
-
We spank and yell if they don't (sometimes even the first time, no warning
- "they should know!")
-
Confess or they don't get fellowship from family / dad, etc.
-
Never forget - bring it up later at a later judgment
-
(remission, not washed away)
-
Do we try to train their every step, their every thought, to protect them
from every worldly ill?
-
Do we believe that we actually mold them to be the christian they should
be - following Jesus' teachings, of course, from the gospels?
6) Or following Paul, do you want them to be good, get saved based
on the longsuffering and goodness design of God and Paul
-
so, as a parent, you do 'good' to them with 'riches,' from the goodness
of mom and dad.
7) Your kids are so special?
-
answer to your prayer?
-
pray about them?
-
pray for them?
-
pray because of them?
-
VERY special at birth - but it seems to fade as they grow or more come
along!
-
(first birthdays are for the parents
-
buy boys motorized jeeps, etc. and girls porcelain dolls, glass tea sets,
etc. and today, both get sports stuff!
8) ARE THEY
-
"BAD?"
-
No, not in God's eyes!
-
No Law - No transgression - sin not imputed
-
Romans 4:15
-
Romans 5:13
-
Romans 7:8-11
-
Galatians 3:20-29
-
Thanks Adam!
-
Our little gods and goddesses will become servants to sin someday
-
"BAD DOER'S?"
-
Sure!
-
because of...
-
our parenting example to us?
-
our own parenting skills, or lack of them today?
-
proper roles?
-
II Tim 2:2?
-
Phil 4:9?
-
inconsistency?
-
too busy?
-
home mess / environment?
-
world's agenda towards kids?
-
chemicals, drugs before and after birth?
-
the kids take after the parents, of course?
-
parents will not see what others see?
-
other influences?
-
relatives?
-
media?
-
god of this world"
-
his teen ministers of righteousness"
-
youth groups / vacation bible schools as a baby-sitter and parental vacation
time"
-
blindness setting in and growing blinder every day!
-
cares of this world / riches choke the parents word as well as the words
of God!
-
Extreme Bondage or Extreme Liberty? no balance in their manner of
life
