The Question is asked again,

What is the Problem Here?
What Can Be Wrong with Good Music?

Nothing!

But What We Do With It Is the Problem!

All people have a body, soul and spirit, but all people do not posses the Holy Spirit.  Only a person who has been born again possesses the Holy Spirit.   John 3:6,7That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  Romans 8:9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

A person who does not have the Holy Spirit is in the same situation that Saul was in in I Sam 16:14-23- without the Holy Spirit.  When music is performed, as it was for Saul,  it will have an effect on their own body, their own soul and their own spirit.  But when one who has received the Holy Spirit listens to music, that music not only deals with their own body, soul & spirit, but it will also have to deal with the Holy Spirit.  A christian must remember that it is their responsibility to not quench and grieve that Holy Spirit.  1Thes 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.  Ephesians 4:30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

I Cor 6:19,20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.  The music that a Christian listens to and/or performs must be chosen to the pleasing of the Holy Ghost.  It must be pleasing to God before it is to be even considered pleasing to ourselves.

And yet,  Phil 4:8reminds us that we must still,  as Christians, make sure that what we do feed ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually is of a Godly standard. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The Work of Music verses the Work of the Holy Spirit

As a Christian - one who is in possession of the Holy Spirit - our music is to please God, not ourselves.   Psalm 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

Music is not to be our comforter, guide, strength, etc.  The Bible is very clear that our comfort, strength, guidance, encouragement, etc. comes from God through Jesus Christ by way of The Holy Spirit by using the Words of Jesus Christ.  Please read the link on God's comfort for those details on how to receive comfort from God.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  God will use psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, but please note, it is the WORD OF CHRIST that is emphasized in that verse.  Not the music.  The music is only a "tool" - a "means".  Ephesians 5:18b,19...but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Conclusion - but not the FINAL Conclusion!
When we, as a Christian, look to our music for our comfort and strength, no matter how good the music is, we are quenching the Holy Spirit of its job.  We are actually robbing the Holy Spirit of the opportunity to be our comforter.  As a result, the comfort or whatever it is we receive from our music, it is only temporary.  It is only dealing with our body, our soul and OUR spirit.  For true comfort and true guidance from God Himself, we must be turning to the Holy Spirit, not music.

John 14:26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
