Let It Be
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees,
that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee,
to smite the host of the Philistines.
II Samuel 5:24

Introduction
I was reading through the Book the other night and in II Samuel 5:24 and I came across the phrase, "Let it be..."

Immediately my mind went to the perverted Beatles and their music of Let It Be.  That irritated me!  I get so tired of that sort of thing.  Everytime I tell you to turn to Jude, I think of "Hey Jude" - another worthless Beatles song.  The power of music, eh!

Let It Be is about Mother Mary's wisdom being shown to this guy in trouble through the sound of music!
Cecelia, from Simon and Garfunkle, is about the Catholic saint of music Cecelia!
Hey Jude is just a perverted dirty song!
etc. etc. ad naseum!!!

I decided to do a short look to see if there was a way for the Scriptures to counter-attack the Beatles mind-control of the phrase "let it be!"

There is!  I hope that when we are done with this sermon, the next time you hear "Let it be," it will remind you of whatever it is that the Holy Spirit tried to convince you of within this message!

Sermon Body
LET IT BE
I Kings 18:36   And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

What a great thing to let be known!

1.  Confess that thou art God - acknowledge the truth, etc. (II Timothy 2:24-26) as that is confessing God  (He pays now, or you pay later)
2.  I am thy servant - nothing to be ashamed of, (Romans 1:16; 10:11) etc. as well as then becoming His friend!!!
3.  Doing what He wants us to do - according to the rightly divided word, that is!

LET IT BE
Ezra 7:23  Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
Do the above works of God DILIGENTLY!
Steady in application to business; constant in effort or exertion to accomplish what is undertaken; assiduous; attentive; industrious; not idle or negligent; applied to persons. Steadily applied; prosecuted with care and constant effort; careful; assiduous; as, make diligent search.
No slothful, not being too busy, not on and off, not lukewarm, etc.
Proverbs 15:19  The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
Proverbs 18:9  He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

LET IT BE
Ezra 10:3  Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
According to the Book - Rightly Divided, of course!  The law is now not for righteousness sake, but out of Love to God!  Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

LET IT BE
Esther 3:9   If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
They will be destroyed!  Yup, it is written!
II Thessalonians 1:8
Revelation 9,19, 20

King of Kings - Revelation 19:16  ...Ecclesiastes 8:4  Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?

Read about King James himself - Let it be if it please the king!
King James I stated that it is the “Scriptures which must be an infallible ground to all true Christians...” He stated that, “The whole scripture is dictated by God’s spirit...” and “All that is necessary for salvation is contained in the scripture.” His contemporaries knew, “He was deeply read in Scripture; he could quote its texts with great facility; knew it even with philological exactness...” He felt so strongly about the Bible translation project that he said he would pay for it “from his own princely disposition [salary].” The translators too felt a love for their project and “struggled along on their own means.” The King’s love for the Bible was evidenced when he visited Oxford in 1605. He asked that Bible “verses” be placed all over town, in homes, churches, schools and on buildings.

King James I established the first Colony of Virginia for “propagating of Christian religion to such people as yet live in darkness and miserable ignorance of the true knowledge and worship of God...” In 1606 he pleaded that “the true word and service of God and Christian faith be preached, planted and used...” in the new colony of Virginia. He said, “The inhabitants of those parts live in utmost ignorance of divine worship, and are completely deprived of the knowledge and solace of the word of God, and probably will remain and end their days in such ignorance unless such a great evil is cared for as soon as possible. Therefore, we ought to end that, out of love for the glory of God, and desiring to work for the good and salvation of souls of those parts... Dedicate yourselves to and perform the ministry and preaching of the word of God in those parts..."

King James was a godly man!
In Basilikon Doron, the King told his son not only to be born again in Christ, but also to live the Christian life, “Holiness being the first and most requisite quality of a Christian, (as proceeding from true fear and knowledge of God).” He admonished him further to “[C]ount every sin and breach of God’s law, not according as the vain world esteems of it, but as God, judge and maker of the law, accounts of the same...” The Dictionary of National Biography states that James was “decidedly pure.” A contemporary wrote in 1602, “[A]mong his good qualities none shines more brightly than the chasteness of his life, which he has preserved without stain down to the present time, contrary to the example of almost all his ancestors...”

One Italian visitor described his “chastity” and added, “In his eyes and in his outward appearance there is a certain natural kindness bordering on modesty. He wears his hair short... About food and clothing he does not care.”

Regarding wealth, King James said, “I wish, therefore, that some may have single coats, or one living, before others have doublets, or pluralities.” Francis Bacon, a contemporary, described James as “a prince the farthest from the appearance of vain-glory that may be, and rather like a prince of the ancient form than of the latter time.” A Venetian diplomat wrote of James in 1619, “He treats all those who serve him with the utmost kindness and familiarity”

James kept the sermons of KJV translator, Lancelot Andrews, under his pillow. In 1656 William Sanderson wrote of James’s “virtue and goodness.” KJV translator George Abbot, summarized the godly character of King James saying, he “hath been so immaculate and unspotted in the world, so free from all touch of viciousness and staining imputation, that even malice itself, which leaveth nothing unsearched, could never find true blemish in it, nor cast probably aspersion on it...All must acknowledge him to be zealous as David, learned and wise, the Solomon of our age, religious as Josiah, careful of spreading Christ’s faith...just as Moses, undefiled in all his ways as Jehoshaphat, or Hezekiah, full of clemency...

King James was an author
The King’s stoutly held Christian beliefs can best be seen in his own works. Some may be read on the internet at
www.jesus-is-lord.com. In 1604 he wrote Counterblast to Tobacco. He said smoking was invented by those who were, “aliens from the holy Covenant of God.”

King James wrote a book for his son entitled, Basilikon Doron (which became an international best seller). In it the King stated that he was, “Praying God that as you are regenerated and born in him anew, so you may rise to him and be sanctified in him forever” with ‘‘white garments washen the blood of the lamb...”

King James was persecuted!  Guy Fawkes - terrorism in his day and still even hated and slandered today!
King James was a linguist and scholar!

You ought to read about King James - you would be very surprised about the man, as I was!  Do what you can to reject thost attacks against him.

LET IT BE
Psalm 69:22  Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
It does!
Romans 11:9,10
I Corinthians 1:23

LET IT BE
Psalm 109:17   As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
Psalm 109:19  Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
Blessings will be far from them and they will be wrapped in their own curses...  What lost folks say to us when they curse us (Him) will actually happen to them!!!
Matthew 25:41
Galatians 1:8,9
or Galatians 3:13; Revelation 22:3 (Christ provided and took care of the curse...)

LET IT BE
Daniel 4:15,23  "...let it be wet with the dew of heaven..."

From Preaching from the Types and Metaphors of the Bible - by Benjamin Keach - written in the late 1600's!

1.  Dew falls insensibly and invisibly; you may be in the field all night, and not perceive the dew fall, and yet find great Dew upon the grass!
So the operations and blessings for the Word, and graces thereof, are invisible.  We sense the work, but the manner of the working thereof is unknown to us.  The Word works little by little, like as the Dew falls.

2.  As Dew comes down indiscernibly, and invisibly, so also very sweetly and in a mild manner.
So the Gospel comes upon some men in a sweet and mild manner; it distills as it were upon them like Dew, although on others, it is true, the Word comes like a might and fierce rain!

3.  Dew is of a fructifying nature; for falling especially on herbs and tender plants, it soaks into the roots of them and makes them fruitful.
So the word of God causes the soul to grow in grace, it makes the precious plants of God's vineyard to be green and flourish in all the fruit of the Spirit. II Thessalonians 1:3; Hosea 14:5.

4.  Dew comes down irresistibly; who can stop or hinder the Dew from falling on the earth?
Who can hinder or stop the Word from operating upon a sinner's heart or a saved man's feet?  If God will work, who shall let?  Isaiah 55:11

5.  Dew doth usually fall in the night.
So the Word only comes upon men's hearts like Dew, whilst the night of this world continues.

(Dew is not sufficient to water some ground, nor to make the newly mown grass to spring and grow;
that needs a plentiful rain!)

LET IT BE
I Corinthians 14:27   If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
2 or 3 - that's it.  Look at the rest of the 'rules' the Pentecostals know nothing about!

LET IT BE
I Peter 3:4   But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
it's all about the heart! ( in this case, this directly relating to the ladies - see I Timothy 2:9 - let Him test your heart!)
Romans 6:17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Hebrews 13:9  Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

LET IT BE
John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Don't let it be a fearful heart!
Psalm 27:1  The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 56:3  What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Psalm 56:11  In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
Psalm 91:5  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

The Peace "from," "with" and "of" God!
Romans 1:7  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 1:2  Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 1:3  Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:15: And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Romans 5:5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

A dark heart for the lost!
Romans 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 2:5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
A saved heart!
Romans 10:9,10  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

A godly woman is not afraid for her family warmth and protection, etc.!
Proverbs 31:21: She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

Proverbs 3:21b-26  ...keep sound wisdom and discretion:  So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

We can have a bold & confident heart!
Ephesians 3:12  In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
I John 3:21  Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Psalm 112:7  He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
