The Seed is the word of God!
Luke 8:11
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
In the previous sermon, we went to the end of the crop
season and looked at the fruit that had grown from whatever kind of seed
had been planted in America these past few years.
Matthew 7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
America used to be a blessed nation and so
did the people!
Psalm 33:12 Blessed
is the nation whose God is the LORD:
and the people whom he hath chosen for
his own inheritance.
America use to be a happy country with happy
people!
Psalm 144:15
Happy is that people, that is in such a case:
yea, happy is that people, whose God is
the LORD.
but not today...
Psalm 9:17 The
wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Proverbs 29:2 When
the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:
but when the wicked beareth rule, the people
mourn.
The fruit in America is the result of :
a bad seed
a bad farming
a bad farmer
or combinations of the above
We know that there can be problems with farming in how the seed is watered,
etc. - and also with the farmer, but for now, let's look at the seed in
the barn, amen? That is what this series is all about, amen?
If we don't plant a seed, there is no crop. No seed - no fruit!
No seed - no growth!
If we do plant a seed, it depends on the quality of the seed as to
the quality of the crop.
- in other words -
If the word of God is a seed, then if we don't plant the seed, we don't
get any crop!
If the word of God is a seed, then the quality of the crop depends
on the quality of the seed, amen?
We can get two kinds of crop: good or bad - true or false - a
real or an imitation!
(We can't have both - Matthew
6:24; Luke 16:13; Matthew 12:30; Luke 11:23)
Obviously, the quality of the seed does affect a persons spiritual birth,
amen? I Peter 1:23:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the
word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
We receive either Jesus Christ or another Jesus!
We receive either the Holy Spirit or another spirit!
We hear either the true Gospel or another gospel!
II Corinthians 11:4 For
if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or
if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel,
which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Gal:1:6: I
marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace
of Christ unto another gospel:
Now, are those verses referring to a persons actual salvation or just
the growth AFTER his salvation? We will have to answer this question
as this series continues - this is the question, amen?
Can corruptible seed bring forth incorruptible crops?
Next, let's look at the words corruptible and incorruptible.
CORRUPT
Literally, to break, separate or dissolve. Hence,
1. To change from a sound to a putrid or putrescent state; to separate
the component parts of a body, as by a natural process, which accompanied
by a fetid smell.
2. To vitiate or deprave; to change from good to bad.
3. To waste, spoil or consume.
4. To defile or pollute.
5. To entice from good and allure to evil.
6. To pervert; to break, disobey or make void.
7. To pervert or vitiate integrity; to bribe; as, to corrupt a judge.
8. To debase or render impure, by alterations or innovations; as, to
corrupt language.
9. To pervert; to falsify; to infect with errors; as, to corrupt the
sacred text.
10. to taint with wickedness.
11. Make something not genuine; infect with errors or mistakes.
INCORRUPT'ED
Not corrupt; not marred, impaired or spoiled; not defiled or depraved;
pure; sound; untainted;
INCORRUPTIBIL'ITY
The quality of being incapable of decay or corruption.
INCORRUPT'IBLE
1. That cannot corrupt or decay; not admitting of corruption.
2. That cannot be bribed; inflexibly just and upright.
Rom:1:23: And
changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like
to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted
beasts, and creeping things.
God Himself has been changed in the 'eyes' of people today, but God
is still an uncorruptible God!
Look at what God did to those folks later on in that chapter.
whew!
1Cor:9:25:
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.
Now they do it to obtain a corruptible
crown; but we an incorruptible.
Our goals are not for earthly rewards, but heavenly
ones - incorruptible crowns! Our affection is to be set on
things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life
is hid with Christ in God. Colossians
3:2,3
1Pt:1:4: To
an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away,
reserved in heaven for you,
1Cor:15:52: In
a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead
shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
We may be made of fleshly corruption now, but some
day - physically we will be made incorruptible! Colossians
3:4 When Christ, who is our life,
shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
I John 3:2,3 Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall
see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure.
1Cor:15:53,54 For
this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and
this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass
the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
I Peter 1:18-25
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the
foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for
you,
Who by him do believe in God, that raised
him up from the dead, and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope might be in God.
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying
the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see
that ye love one another
with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the
glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof
falleth away:
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel
is preached unto you.
Is the King James 1611 Bible 'that word'?
I Corinthians 3:6-9
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but
ministers by whom ye believed,
even as the Lord gave to every man?
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God
gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any
thing, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth
are one:
and every man shall receive his own reward
according to his own labour.
For we are labourers together with God:
ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
God giveth the increase because it is HIS SEED He will increase!
We are just the farmers - and boy, what lessons can we learn from farmers!!!!
Let's look a bit at the incorruptible seed verses the corruptible
seed!
