Another Sermon for the Starving Bible Believing Christians All Over the World Wide Web
2006 - Touchet Baptist Church, Touchet, Washington - Pastor Mike Paulson - 2006
Expounding the way of God more perfectly - Acts 18:26 - with the Scriptures Rightly Divided - II Timothy 2:15
Summary Review of Hebrews through Jude
These are the things listed that we see in those books that folks today either misuse or mispreach thinking that these are TO us, when in all obvious reality, these things are TO the Jews during the Tribulation.  These things were preached in more detail in a series of sermons on Hebrews through Jude which are available by going to the main page www.touchet1611.org and clicking on the sermons for March and April, 2006.

THESE ARE NOT TO US TODAY IF & WHEN PREACHED FROM HEBREWS TO JUDE
Yes, we tend to spiritualize this stuff, as we do the OT,
but to take folks today to this doctrine for tomorrow only confuses the Book for those folks!
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
II Timothy 2:15,16

A few thoughts that were preached during this series:
You get back your Bible when you learn to understand rightly dividing.
It is so simple...!
Now YOU CAN understand your Bible.
God can talk to YOU again - and you can hear clearly now!

I saw a sign the other day in front of a church that said, "God is still speaking today."  That is not true.  If God was still speaking, then they claim that He is accepting the new teachings, etc.  No, God HAS SPOKEN!  It is the King James Bible.  Now read it and find out what God said!  He hasn't changed a word - or taken any away - or added any.  Yes, He will speak to you but only through the King James Bible!

Here is a quick summary of general topics that are important TO the Jews in the Tribulation as found in Hebrews through to Jude, but NOT TO US today.  Beware as these 'teachings' are showing up from Rick Warren's false purposes to our own Bible Believing churches today.
HEBREWS
To Hebrews... duh, too easy, eh!
1:1 Fathers - (false application today in the church concerning the 'church fathers.')
1:2 Last days
1:3 "our" (meaning Jews in the Tribulation, NOT Christians today.)
2:1 Letting 'slip' things we have heard
2:2 every transgression and disobedience receiving a just recompense of reward
2:4 signs and wonders, etc.
2:12 midst of the 'church'
3:1 holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling
3:6 God's house - (Jews in Tribulation)
3:8-13 loss of salvation / fellowship from God because of a hard heart and deceitfulness of sin; departing from the living God.  I call it "Tribulation Reaction" if this stuff is tried to be applied TO us today.  Hardened hearts, hurt feelings, hopelessness are not necessary because of what Paul preaches TO us today.
3:14 "if"
3:14 "unto the end"
3:19 no longer enter in because of unbelief
4:1 fear God because of walk
4:2 lack of faith - no profit
4:10 lazy Christians?
4:14 hold fast your profession
4:16 'finding' grace?  (We already have it today!)
5:4 called of God
5:9 salvation when we 'obey him'
5:12 oracles of God (to the Jew, remember!)
6:1-3 not laying again...
6:4-6 lose salvation - can't get it back
6:12-15 faith as a result of patience
7 Priesthood - (some denominations sure mess with this stuff!)
7:2,4-6 tithing
7:2 1st and 2nd type to Christ - knowing where we are today
7:3 no mother?  Do the 'famous' priests have a mother, etc.?
7:19 Drawing nigh unto God will bring Him nigh unto you - based on our walk today?
7:27 "once"
8 more on the priesthood
8:10 write on the hearts - to the HOUSE OF ISRAEL, not us.
8:11 they will not be allowed to be a witness - they will be killed if they try to verbally witness to folks
9:1 "divine" ordinances and worldly sanctuaries
9:6 "accomplishing the service of God"
9:7 pastors today?
9:13-19 true beginning of actual NT - after the death of the testator
9:22 remission of sins - meaning only forgiven - (not as good as being 'washed' eh!)
9:25-28 not 'often' - once!
9:27 appointed to die - after this the judgment.  Folks think this means we all have an 'appointment' - a certain time planned to die.  Not at all - it just means that we all will die - and after that will be the judgment.  Judgment Seat or White throne - which will it be?  We have no specific appointment coming up!  Just another 'stretch' of a preaching to scare folks into doing right - so they think, anyway.
9:28 no sin when He came back - where did the sin go that He had / became, etc.
10:11 priest can not take away sins
10:14 'one"
10:16 covenant mentioned again - TO the Jews then!
10:18 remission
20:23-26 Holding fast the profession of faith; good works, He is coming; sinning willfully - all jeopardize one's salvation THEN!
10:30 Lord judging his people - TRIB!
10:31 falling into the hands of a living God
10:32 illuminated - a great fight follows
10:33 gazing stock
10:34 bonds
10:35 cast not away
10:36 patience - doing the will of God
10:37 will NOT tarry (see Acts 17:31)
10:38,39 drawing back?
11 faith AND works to obtain a good report
12:1 lay 'aside' sin, etc.;  patience mentioned again
12:2-5 looking unto Jesus - resisting in the blood, etc. (pleading the blood as some call it)
12:7-10 enduring chastening
12:10 partaking of his holiness
12:11 chastening yields fruit of righteousness
12:13 straight paths for the feet
12:14 follow peace and holiness
12:15 fail of the grace of God
12:28 serve God acceptably with reverence and fear
12:29 God is an all consuming fire (not to us...!)
13 the walk in detail
13:1 brotherly love... or else
13:2 entertain angels...
13:4 God judges adulterers
13:5 clean conversation important for one's salvation
13:7,17 obey them that rule over you - they watch for your soul!  (our soul is fine today... pastoral authority comes from these)
13:14 New Jerusalem - Jews?
13:15,16 sacrifice of praise
13:20 great shepherd for sheep - JEWS!
13:21 Jesus Christ will make a perfect walk in you

JAMES
I would call James the book of Proverbs to the 12 tribes during the Tribulation
1:1 Scattered - 12 tribes - JEWS!  See John 16:32
1:2-4 temptation produces strong faith which ends up in a perfect / entire walk and a joy based on the walk
1:5 'asking' for wisdom and receiving it liberally without upbraiding!  We have the KJB today!  No need to ask - READ IT!
1:6 asking in faith and not wavering
1:10 rich is just plain a bad thing
1:12 endure temptation and you can live!
1:14,15 pattern of sin - still the pattern for today - but the sin is not imputed
1:21 lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness - walk and then receive the engrafted word!
1:25 be a doer = blessed in his deed
1:27 pure religion - keeping yourself unspotted - by following Him!
2:1-4 being a respecter of persons - makes you a judge of evil thoughts - is considered a sin!
2:5 love Him
2:14-26 faith without works is dead
2:24 after a strong attempt to convince faith without works is dead, we see that it does NOT apply to us today!
3:6 tongue defiling the whole body
3:12 no salt - but today, our speech is to have salt - Colossians 4:6: Let your speech be alway ... seasoned with salt,
3:14-16 bitter strive and envy - leads to confusion and evil work

4:4 enemy of God by being a friend of the world
4:7 submit unto God and the devil will flee?  really?  today?

4:9 mourn - these are hard days
4:10 physical humbleness
4:11 speak not evil of the brethren - guilty of evil of the law and judgeth the law!  who are you to judge?
4:13 buy, sell, trade
4:14,15 the Lord's "will" in your life
4:16 wrong rejoicing is evil
4:17 a sin to know to do good and not do it
5:1-3 Being rich is bad - period!

5:8 coming of the Lord - watch your walk
5:9 no grudges - or be condemned
5:11 endure
5:12 fall into condemnation
5:14-15 the pentecostal sound of today!
5:16 fervent prayer of a righteous man!
5:20 error of his WAY - the walk!

I PETER
We looked at 'clue' words that shows that the books from Peter are addressing Jews in the Tribulation, not to us today.
See John 21 for Peter being told to feed the sheep which he does in early Acts, and then here in the end of the Bible - the tribulation
1:1 strangers - could also refer to the Jews, not just Gentiles - see more below to nail that down to the Jews
1:2 elect
1:3 again
1:4 inheritance reserved
1:5 last time
1:6 manifold temptation (Laodicean is only an hour of temptation)
1:7 appearing of Jesus Christ
1:9 receiving the end of your faith - even salvation
1:10-11 prophets prophesied, etc.
1:12 unto us
1:13 hope to the end / revelation of Christ
1:14 obedient children
1:15 be holy because Jesus was

1:23 born again - only mentioned before from Jesus towards nation of Israel
2:1 lay aside all
2:4 chosen of God
2:5 holy priesthood
2:7,8 disobedient
2:9,10 chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, peculiar people, called, not a people (before Abraham)
2:11 strangers and pilgrims (also mentioned in Hebrews)
2:12 among the Gentiles - (of course he is talking to the Jews, then!!!)
2:15 well doing as testimony
2:17 brotherhood
2:21 follow his steps - being buffeted
2:19-23 the walk...
2:24 live unto righteousness
2:25 were sheep now returned to the Shepherd
3:3-9 emphasis on walk for marriages - no divorce in Tribulation, but don't mix it up with Paul's preaching!
3:5 old time the holy women
3:6 Sarah and Abraham
3:8 more on love of the brethren - see also I John 1:7; 2:9-11; 3:15-17,23; 4:7,11,16,20,21
3:9 inheritance as reward for walk
3:10 won't be killed - will be left to see good days - keep your tongue from evil
3:16 good conscience based on walk and conversation
4:1 cease from sin
4:3 Gentiles mentioned separately
4:7 end of all things is at hand
15 don't do!  murder, etc. (hate brethren, by the way, makes you a murderer...)
17 judgment beginning at the house of God - us - meaning JEWS!
5:1 elder
5:2 flock
5:3 flock - God's heritage
5:4 Chief Shepherd - shepherds are for sheep - Jews are sheep
5:12 Silvanus - close both with Jews and Gentiles - chief Jew hung around Peter AND Paul

II PETER
1:1 to them ... with us
1:2 through the knowledge of God
1:3 divine power into life and godliness
1:4 partakers of the divine nature
1:4 escaped the corruption that is in the world - the walk in the Tribulation only makes sense here
1:5-10 add up all these attributes and if they be in them, and abound, then they will be fruitful and will be given an entrance ...
1:12-15 they must be always reminded of the previous verses
1:16 coming of our Lord Jesus Christ - eyewitnesses of his majesty
1:19 more sure word of prophecy - not in their hearts yet!
1:20 no private interpretation of...
1:21 that was spoken!
2:1 false prophets, false teachers - damnable issues / heresies - denying the Lord that bought them!
2:2 following their WAYS - speak evil of truth
2:3 covetousness - feigned words - make merchandise of folks - damns folks to the lake of fire, etc.
2:4-8 He has done it before, He will do it again.  But not until the Tribulation!
2:49 vexed a righteous soul
2:9 deliver the godly out of temptation (the KJB today!)
2:13 these damnable heresy teaching people eat with the Jews!
2:14-17 eyes of adultery - matches Matthew on adultery - sin - cursed children - wells without water!
2:18-19 this is how they allure folks to their side!
2:20-22 but if they follow them, their damnation is secured - and their life is far worse than it was before!
2:22 the dog returns to his vomit, etc.  Fits best into the tribulation!
3:2 mindful of words spoken in OT, etc.
3:3 scoffers, about His coming
3:5-7 willingly ignorant of creation, etc. not the 'gap theory'
3:9 Lord is not slack concerning His promise - but He sure seems to be willing to wait for more to be saved...
3:10 the thief in the night is not about the rapture
3:11 better have a holy conversation and godliness ... or else
3:12,13 looking for a better future - new heavens and a new earth - righteousness will dwell then.
3:14 they must be found in peace without spot and blameless when Christ arrives!
3:15,16 Paul's teachings played heavily in Peters' works, but we must remember they are truth applied to the Tribulation, not Tribulation applied to us, literally or even spiritually!
3L16 what the scriptures are that folks wrest unto their own destruction are Paul's writings - just like today!
3:17 don't be led away and then fall from your own stedfastness

I John
Now this the stuff that we hear preached all the time - talking about guilt, confession of sins for fellowship, etc.
Obvious horrendous misuse of Scriptures written TO the Jews, etc. in the Tribulation!
For us, but not TO us!
1:1 sure does identify 'when' written - before Paul but included in the Bible after Paul.  Hmmmm
1:3 fellowship is in this verse, of course, but the chapter isn't only about fellowship.  See verse 4 - not TO us!  God never forsakes us today.  We are the ones who step aside by not reading!
1:5 in him is no darkness.  Well, we are IN HIM today and can't get out, etc.
1:6 if we have Him in us, and us in Him, how can we walk in darkness.  Spiritually?  yes - but we have the Book for our light today.
1:7 AND - they must walk in light to be cleansed
1:8 they can not have sin in the Trib.  Read Paul's teaching to us on sin in Romans 5-8, etc.
1:9 we are forgiven... we can talk to the Lord daily and should - but to confess?  So many Christians are guilty of applying this today.
2:2 they had better not sin at all - if they do, they need to confess them - 1:9
2:3 if we keep his commandments
2:4 keep his commandments
2:5 if they do keep his word, they keep God and His love perfected in them - based on their WALK
2:6 must walk as Jesus walked -and that is what He said in the Gospels
2:9 hating the brethren puts them in darkness
2:10 love the brethren and they won't have an occasion to stumble
2:11 more on hating his brother and the consequences
2:12 sins are forgiven for HIS NAMES SAKE - not theirs
2:13 overcome - overcomer's doctrine is to the time of Tribulation, not today
2:14 overcome
2:15 love the world and they won't have the love of God in them
2:17 must do the will of God to live
2:18 it is the last time
2:19 us - Jews
2:20 the famous 'unction from the Holy One' is written TO the time of Tribulation. We have the Book today!
2:21 they do know the truth
2:23 deny the Son and you have no salvation
2:24,25 IF for eternal life
2:27 they are anointed.  We are not the anointed ones today, the Book is anointed  We need the Book to know all that is knowable.
2:28 better be abiding in Him when He comes!
2:29 doeth righteousness makes you born of him!
3:1,2 more on the Sons of God - but remember, the Sons of God are mentioned back to early Genesis, too.
3:2 they will be like him when he appears.  They will have to be!
3:3 that hope is what purifieth folks
3:4-10 if one is born of God, then they don't sin.  If they sin, they are no longer born of God - and must confess them for forgiveness
3:10 the children of God are manifest by their walk as are the children of the devil - by their walk!  Including loving their brethren!
3:14-17 more on loving the brethren!  I John has great emphasis on the need to love their brethren to keep their salvation!
3:19 they must love in DEED and truth and their hearts will be assured
3:20-21 heart will know in those days if they are walking right or not - our heart doesn't know that today - we need the Book!  This is pentecostalistic teachings big time when applied today!
3:22 keep his commandments AND... do those things pleasing in His sight
3:23 believe on the name of his Son AND love one another!
3:24 keepeth his commandments - and that is how they will know they are saved at the time or not.
4:1-3 Christ will be come in their flesh - and that is the test for then!
4:4-6 the world won't know them and won't hear them!
4:6 they know if they are 'saved' by how people won't hear them!
4:7-9 more on the love of one another - so much is at stake based on their love towards each other as well as to God
4:12 more on the love of one another - God dwelleth in them based on their love of each other
4:15 a good verse, but make sure you include verse 16
4:16-17 this perfect love will give them boldness, again, they will be as he is  - they will have to be - in order to do the walk!
4:18 no fear in love - perfect love, that is.
4:19-21 more on the love of the brethren again
5:1 note the word AND
5:2 love God AND keep his commandments
5:3 that is the love of God - see verse 2
5:4-5 overcomers again...
5:6-8 note that verse 6 identifies verse 8
5:13 great verses even for then, and they are his record... but note in verse 14...
5:14 this is the proof that we don't dare take I John 5:13 TO us today - we must also include verse 14
5:16 sin unto death then
5:17,18 more on unrighteousness being sin - and if they sin, they are not born of God.  We see 'born of God' always to the Jews.
5:19-20 their knowledge of their standing with God is based on their walk

II JOHN
1 elect lady - Israel in Tribulation
4 greatest joy is children WALKING in truth - the walk
6 walk after his commandments
7 must confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh - because that is how they will be able to walk through the Tribulation!  See Acts 2:17
8 losing rewards based on walk
9 doctrine of Christ - they must have it - or they are not with God, etc.
10,11 don't invite those folks into their houses - they will be considered as partakers!  (like our TV today, eh!)
12 didn't want to write the stuff - would rather talk face to face - always the best way?

III JOHN
1 elder
2 prosper in soul based on their walk - read Psalms for some great application there
3,4 children walking in truth - the greatest joy then. Sure - that means they are 'saved' at the time!
5 brethren are mentioned again...
6 a witness and testimony to those outside the church as to how they take care of each other!
7 Gentiles mentioned again
8 fellowhelpers of the truth
9 the church still isn't the Gentile church of today
9,10 Diotrephes - wanted the final authority and the PR - was mean about it, too.
11 follow that which is good - to be of God
12 having a good report was necessary for their witness as well as their salvation!

JUDE
1 Jude - brother of James
1 sanctified and preserved, sure, but they still could lose it all.   The Spirit of God is upon their flesh! No spiritual circumcision then
2 mercy is prayed for.  We have His mercy today - they will need it and will have to go to Him for it as they need it.
4 the people who try to destroy the truth, etc.
5 memories of what God did to those in the wilderness when they rejected Him
6 angels still in everlasting chains
7,8 vengeance of eternal fire based on their walk - flesh defiled then.
11 way of Cain is envy; error of Balaam is having others cursed without them knowing it while thinking they are fine; gainsaying of Core is rejecting God's final authority.
12 they eat with these folks and they are defiled by doing so
12,13 a great description of those folks who destroy through their preaching, etc.
14 now we know who is coming back with him in Revelation 19:14...
15 ...and why...
15,16 ungodly people; ungodly deeds; ungodly committed; ungodly sinners!
17 more detailed description of what they  will be like.  We sure do see these flavours already appearing today, eh!  Must be the Trib is getting closer, eh?
18 last time
20 building up themselves - means they must be into the holy walk!
21 keep themselves in the love of God - their own efforts!
24 Christ will keep them unspotted if they follow his commandments, etc.
25 true from Genesis to Revelation!
