The
entire King James Bible is written FOR us, but it is not all written TO
us!
We
learn from the "For" and study Paul's writings to apply the 'TO!"
Sermon
Notes
November
23, 2008
Let's see how it all got started with
Paul and what his first response was from the crowds!
-
Might help us understand the way of
God more perfectly, as Paul says!
-
Might just discourage us!
-
Just remember who he was talking to
at the beginning of his ministry!
-
The second group (Gentiles) were excited
to hear what he had to say - then, anyway!
-
Acts 13:48:
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word
of the Lord:
-
But then, we have
this, too:
-
Acts 14:2:
But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds
evil affected against the brethren.
-
To whom do we try to talk?
-
Great Commissioners
-
folks who think they need to follow
Jesus' footsteps - imitate, etc.
-
modern Bible users/readers/carriers.
-
people disgruntled with Christianity
-
church goers who have been taught to
hate going to an old fashioned bell ringing hymn singing church
-
disgruntled 'Christians' who think they
have been burned, lied to, rejected, by preachers, pastors and the brethren!
-
disgruntled 'Christians' who have been
burned, lied to, rejected, by preachers, pastors and the brethren!
-
made to feel guilty about their sin
- their life - their choices in life - their following of idols instead
of the living God!
-
are guilty about their sin - their life
- their choices in life - their following of idols instead of the living
God!
-
think they can escape God's judgment,
-
despisest the riches of God's goodness
and forbearance and longsuffering
-
folks that don't believe God's goodness
leadeth them or anyone else, including ourselves to repentance, etc.
-
folks that won't endure sound doctrine
-
lost folks - you know,
-
family members / friends who know your
outside testimony
-
give you no honour - be it in our own
country, and among our own kin, and in our own house.
-
law followers
-
Gospel lovers
-
Revelation readers
-
People who want to know truth but are
CONFUSED!
-
KJB people who are falling away because
they are having their KJB taken away by preaching, gain, education, etc.
-
people who have never heard of nor been
taught rightly dividing
-
people who just can't grasp TO and FOR
whom the Bible is written, etc.
-
It is out of season!
-
Apostasy will continue to set in deeper
and deeper!
The very beginning:
Acts 9:1-31
-
Want to kill him
-
Amazed
-
Paul was made aware he was greatly
unliked
-
Didn't believe he was a disciple
-
Churches had rest
-
Churches were edified
-
Churches walked in fear of the Lord
-
Churches walked din the comfort of
the Holy Ghost
-
Churches were multiplied
Gives his personal
testimony of his beginning to King Agrippa
Acts 26:12-32
-
Want to kill him
-
Called him 'mad' - 'nutso.'
-
Almost became a Christian
-
Didn't let him go, even though they
knew he hadn't done anything wrong
Having troubles
Gives his personal testimony of his
beginning to the people
Acts 21:27-31,
40 - 22:1-30
-
Possible contradiction
-
9:7 - And
the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but
seeing no man.
-
22:9 - And
they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they
heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
-
See John 12:29
- The people therefore, that stood by,
and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
-
You can hear A
VOICE without hearing THE VOICE of the one speaking or understanding what
the voice says.
-
"Away with him" - "kill him" - "not
fit to live!"
-
Got "majorly" upset - crowd went
berserk!
-
Was to be examined by scourging -
so he would know the cries against him
-
Paul was let out of the scourging
- I am one of you...
Jesus said about
Paul's suffering that was to come...
-
Acts 23:11
- And the night following the Lord stood
by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of
me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
-
Acts 9:16 -
For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Things will only
get worse!
-
Acts 23:12-14
- And when it was day, certain of the Jews
banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would
neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. And they were more
than forty which had made this conspiracy. And they came to the chief priests
and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that
we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
-
People continue
their willful ignorance of a rightly divided KJB.
-
seek your halting!
-
still will not
believe a thing you say because of your testimony of following of idols
instead of turning to God
-
they see your
compromise and don't see anything different than themselves...
-
they see that
you don't live what you believe!
-
money won't be
there like it used to be!
-
expenses will
mount up with natural and needful use - they will find an excuse or even
given an excuse not to help financially
-
devil will continue
his hunt for the weak and receivable ones
-
life, self and
the devil will cause doubt, discouragement, dismay and disappointment -
overall the doldrums!
-
government involvement
will increase
-
United Nations
will seek more involvement and hatred against ole America - churches, guns,
freedoms, etc.
-
KJB will become
more and more hated - period!
-
the Shame of the
testimony of Jesus Christ and Paul, his prisoner will increase
-
ungodliness will
increase (lack of rightly dividing, remember...)
-
confusion of what
ungodliness is will increase among Christians as a smokescreen by ministers
of righteousness - the devil's own!
-
Risen Christ followers
through Paul's gospel will compromise more and more
-
Grace will increase
while sound doctrine will slip faster and faster
-
more and more
will just not endure sound doctrine!
BUT...
-
There are those
will continue with their belief of the
truth!
-
There are still
a few who are seeking truth - they know something is wrong!
-
...stand
fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word,
or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father,
which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good
hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good
word and work.
-
Pray that the
word of the Lord (today - KJB) may
have free course, and be glorified...!
-
Pray that the
word of the Lord shall stablish us and
keep us from evil!
-
Remember that
we all will labour and suffer reproach,
because we trust in the living God...
-
Take heed
unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
-
But thou,
O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness,
faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold
on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses.
-
...Keep
that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings,
and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have
erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
-
For the
grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed
hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus
Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These
things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise
thee.
-
And finally, if
you have time, read Titus 3
all by yourself!
