Fall Upon Your Sword
Part II
II Samuel 1:1-11

Review previous sermon on Fall Upon Your Sword!

Note that in this sermon tonight, Saul had not truly done the job totally.
He still needed someone to help him "finish the job."

Had you fallen on your sword completely as you promised from last week's sermon?
Are you totally 'dead' to the world?

or are you only "partly dead?"

Listen to the audio portion as we highlight the following verses:
2 - he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
5 - do folks KNOW that you are dead to the world?
6 - avoid foolish and unlearned questions - the gainsayers are attacking stronger and stronger - the unsaved want the saved out of the picture, etc.  the archers are doing their job!  The fiery darts are everywhere, even from among the brethren!  Liars in the pulpits from the Old Prophets, as well.  Eph 6:15; I Peter 1:7.
8 - this guy was from the enemy camp, too!
9* - Saul said to STAND upon him.  Not to do the job himself, just stand on him and help Saul do the job!
10 - Saul looked like he couldn't go back to the world, but he just couldn't do it all himself!
11 - the world just hates to see us 'get our walk right' - let alone our hearts!

This may be a bit of twisting of a type, but the point is this:

The brethren can help you Fall Upon Your Sword!
The preacher should (armourbearer) should help you & you also should be able to do it yourself,
but it you still can't, you ought to be able to go to a brother/sister for help!

Remember, though - it isn't for others / them that can do it for you!  If they come and do it for you, then THEY are doing it - that doesn't work according to Paul!
II Timothy 2:24-16: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

But you can get help from the 'church family'
to get out of the snare of the devil!

With Abounding Charity Towards the Brethren

II Thessalonians 1:3,4  We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;  So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
This is:
Good stuff for Pastors and their church family!!!
Good for Dads and their home family!!!
Good for brothers / sisters!!!
Good for people/kids and their friends!!!

Now remember one thing:  Saul asked for help!  I Samuel 31:4; I Chronicles 10:4

Do not be afraid or too proud to ask someone to HELP you Fall Upon Your Sword ALL THE WAY!

Such a thing: In the days of martyrs, they spent as much time as they could with the Book (pages, etc.) and worked cuz they had to.  Today, we spend as much as we can working and doing projects, and get into the Book only when we 'have' to!

Love One Another!
John 15:12,13  This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
You love folks by telling them the truth - IF THEY ASK, remember - they must be seeking a way out of the trap.  (You can still try to pland and water the seeds, of course!)
Ephesians 4:15: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
II Thessalonians 2:10: And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
I John 3:18: My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Give them the Book, not you!  I Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
(although there are times that folks need 'you' too!  1Jn:3:17: But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?)

Unfeigned love!
not counterfeit; not hypocritical; real; sincere;
I Peter 1:22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

You may have to give up some of your 'life' - your own time and energy to help a brother "Saul" fall on his sword to die to the world and to his flesh...

Prefer one another!
(Prefer - Literally, to bear or carry in advance, in the mind, affections or choice; hence, to regard more than another; to honor or esteem above another.)
Romans 12:10  Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Admonish one another!
1.  To warn or notify of a fault; to reprove with mildness.
2.  To counsel against wrong practices; to caution or advise.
(+) Romans 15:14  And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
(-) II Thessalonians 3:14,15  And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.  Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Serve one another!
Galatians 5:13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Don't 'enjoy' sticking them with the sword!!!  We ought not 'want' to stab them!

Forbear one another
Ephesians 4:1-3I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,  With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Trying to keep peace and unity in the process!  Don't be a 'cool' divider!  That is the job of Jesus Christ, not us!   We don't need to be he that soweth discord among brethren.  Proverbs 6:19

Edify one another!
I Thessalonians 5:11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Romans 14:19  Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Forgive one another
Ephesians 4:31,32  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Still in truth!

Exort one another!
Hebrews 3:12-14 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.  For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Care for one another!
I Corinthians 12:23-27And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.  For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Comfort one another!
I Thessalonians 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.  (words of truth)
I Thessalonians 5:11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Depart daily properly from one another!
Ephesians 4:25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Provoke one another to good works
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not to anger...
Proverbs 20:2: The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
Proverbs 15:1: A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Ephesians 6:4: And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Submit to correct order!
Be willing to ASK - then LISTEN!  You are asking for help with your sword, not their opinion, etc.
I Peter 5:5,6  Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

In your 'help' towards the brethren...

Grace and Charity!

I Peter 4:7-10 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.  And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.  As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Hebrews 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Do the above and you won't...
Criticize one another
Correct one another (nit pic, put down, mock, but discuss)
Condone the others sin (II Thessalonians 3:14,15)

Satan accuses, not us!
Revelation 12:10,11  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
