Gibson Movie Exposes
Beguiled Bible Believers
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty,
so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
II Corinthians 11:3

Live Real Audio Sermon - February 29, 2004

Introduction:
As a result of this recent Catholic movie...

A.  E-mail battles:  from 'former' friends... PBI grads... a few Bible Believing pastors (present and past) and even a Greeker who really thinks there is no complete Bible.. they all think I need to see this Catholic movie before I can judge it!  (my best and solid support for this newest 'issue' comes from those out there who have NO church, or at least a very small one - and have not been led by their greek studying pastor and the church growth-more-important-than-the-truth mentality of the people)

B.  My basic observations of the movie, The Passion of the Christ

(ought to be called Passion of the Antichrist / the Passion of the Christ and Mary)
!
1)  It is so catholic, I don't even know why there is such an issue!  The director even stated it is Catholic and Maryish!
2)  The crucifixion is a shame, according to the Scriptures... Hebrews 6:6 ... put him to an open shame
3)  The obvious antichrist subtlety no longer needs to subtle.  People just don't care, they like movies!!!
4)  The strong support by the Bible Believers 'shocks' me - though after the music issue, I shouldn't be...!
5)  "Entertainment" has won over "words" - it's official!
6)  There are serious problems with "images" according to the Scriptures!

C.  Preach the word, not build a church!
I know who I am - by the grace of God, I am even just a small town small church pastor - I belong to no camp - I am independent of the independent independents - but if God will allow me, I am determined more than ever to arise up, quickly:  to Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.  II Timothy 4:2-5

I hope that it will be quite a while for my departure to be at hand... and I hope I will be able to say at least for my last years that... I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

D.  I understand Paul's thoughts and burdens more than ever:
    1) his heart for others to get ahold of those things he prayed for in Ephesians!
    2) his boldness and confidence!
    3) his being sorry but not being sorry if his preaching is hard on folks!
    4) the label of being called the enemy for simply telling the simple truth
    4) though the more abundantly we 'love' others with the truth, the less we will be loved! II Corinthians 12:15!

E.  And yet, I see the futility of it all!  It is written - the 'fall' is coming!   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  II Thessalonians 2:1-4

I can not get weary to faint- I see that my past sermons were really on the mark, but it is too late to do them 'better!'

Jeremiah said, Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in...
Jeremiah 6:11a

Yet, I wonder, who is getting not only this 'stuff' but a firm grasp on the book for their very own selves!  You know, how to handle this sword not just in a fight, or in a sermon, but for their own personal fellowship with the Lord!

Why do Bible Believing folks even need a movie, let alone a Catholic one?????
bible believers won't use a Catholic bible… and won't attend a catholic church,
but they will endorse a Catholic movie about a Catholic Christ…  and a catholic glorification of the crucifixion?

But I know ... "The Lord has already come!"
(like Paul, I have seen him, only for me, it is in this book and from the Holy Spirit)

We are to live on HIS faith and on HIS joy!
(but that is enough, amen!)

Colossians 3:1-3 means more to me now than ever before!  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.  Keep reading the next verses if you want...

Folks, the Book killers are almost done!  The famine is drawing nigh for our children!
(See my 'old' sermon Christ Killers are Book Killers!)

I could grow weary of the pressure to help folks understand this Book and these perilous times!
I could grow weary of those who so easily fall for their concerns for the physical kingdom!
I could grow weary of those who draweth nigh unto the Lord with their mouth, and honoureth him with their lips; but their heart is far from him.  Matthew 15:8  (That can even apply to folks and their pastor and preacher!)

But... it is NOT about me, or you, or your family, or your kids, or your future, or your retirement...
It's about THIS BOOK - THE KING JAMES 1611 Bible
(yes, it is about God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, but without this book, you don't hear the truth about them!)

I don't preach much about money, but...
I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is and
let's do all that we can to preach the word, publish the word
and plant and water the precious word of God!

Those of you out there in the web family that has NO church, please consider this mission finanacially:

That is all we have left to do!  The Greater Commission!
Let's show folks this book and what all comes with it and in it!
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalm 126:6

There is nothing more important to do these days!  - NOTHING!
Do this and I believe God will bless your family (in His way, of course)
- in spite of the parents and in spite of kids and their rebellions!

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase.
I Corinthians 3:7

God can do with those words whatever He wants to do!
I believe that He will continue to send more and more lies to the people of this world that...
... have rejected His words and have turned to entertainment!

Main Sermon Body
So now, allow me to surprise my readers and listeners out there in the webworld,
for those who are still listening anyway, and let us try to consider...
What 'Good' Can We Get Out of This Movie?
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

A.  This movie makes us examine ourselves to see how much of a Bible Believer we really are or even want to be!
It's a test!  See Deuteronomy 13:3; Jude 4; Jude 21,25.  Do we let entertainment and special effects get in our way?  Are we more like the disciples who left 'early' when things only began to get tough - or like the man who stayed later...Mark 14:51,21 - or like Peter who denied him in His presence...?

Douay - That's the Cathlic Bible?  Have we been wrong all the time - or are you really a Bible Believer and will stand against this and future 'bible' movies?

B.  Strengthens or Weakens our personal Christian stand!
You KNOW some things are wrong, very wrong in that movie.  What do you think about it?  What do you do about it?  Do have answers for your family, for your friends, etc.  You KNOW they will say something on this one - do you take refuge in "guilty silence," as A.W. Tozer preached?

C.  Brings out the Hypocrisy in us!
Won't go to 'R' movies, except this one?
Will go to other hollywood movies but not this one?
Against Mel Gibson and all the 'wrong' that he stands for but still watch TV and still go to other movies with directors, actors and music even worse that deal with perversions?
Preach against the catholic church and still go to this movie and support if financially and publicly endorsing it?
Bible Believer but one that has no answers about inaccuracies and sets a horrible 'example' to their children...?
Against the 'image' of Christ on the cross, but you have PSR drawings of the same thing?
Won't participate in the 'shame' of the movie but still is willing to 'shame' the Lord on a daily basis with their testimony?
Stand up against the movie, but still swear, lose your temper, go deeper into debt, ignore your Bible reading, study, etc.?

D.  We can see that the true Catholic Church still exists and is as strong as ever - and is truly the whore of Rev 17,18!
Vatican I; Vatican II were deceptions!  They have suddenly appeared on the scene and 'nobody cares!'  They all buy into it!  They don't even have any ecumenical desire other than to 'catch folks!' -  The devil needs that army - Revelation 16:14  For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which  go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

E.  We can see that the Catholic Church is behind the Ecumenical Movement!
See who supports this catholic movie:  Billy Graham; Mission America Coalition; Campus Crusade; Rick Warren's Saddleback Church; Evangelical Free Church; Wheaton Bible College; Morris Chapman - president of the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention; Jack Graham - president of the Southern Baptist Convention; Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship; Worship Leader Magazine; Robert Schuller; James Dobson - Focus on the Family; Ted Haggard - president of the National Evangelical Association (called Gibson the Michelanelo of this generation); the American Tract Society ("greatest opportunities for evangelism in 2,000 years); Teen Mania; the Catholic League; Vatican Secretariat of State, the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, etc. etc. etc.

F.  We can see if we really would know a false teaching, even if 'everyone' accepts it!
What do you know about the Eucharist?
Jesus portrayal was based on the design of the Shroud of Turin!
Would you have known if those 'scenes' with Mary and Jesus along the way were scripturally true?
Would you have known when Mary wiped her face on Christ was true?
Would you have been able to see the subtle Mary-involvement as co-redemptress?
Do you know if Christ was really thrown off a bridge?
Does Mary ever wipe up Jesus' blood?
Did Jesus have long hair?
Did Judas hang himself with an halter as Gibson says?  (Matthew 27:5)

Do you know any of the scriptures to show a Catholic the truth when compared to their church tradition?

G.  We have an opportunity to not be ignorant of Satan's latest device - especially when it is so obvious!
One-world religion!  Movies!  Entertainment!  Music!  Special effects!  Could you even see it coming; if not then, can you now?  You know, The Hobbit, Disney, Harry Potter, Patriot, Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, Lord of the Rings, Nemo, Passion, etc. a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump... Galatians 5:9

H.  This movies has brought out the dust, dirt, bugs and even some cockroaches as we turn up the Light!
Worldly Christians, modern Christians, PBI, Greekers, Catholics, Jesuit plants,

I.  This movie gives us opportunities to witness, "if" you can and "if" you really want to!
Of course, we will be having all sorts of opportunities - if you want to witness, you WILL have the opportunity!  Will you cease the opportunity?

J.  This movie makes us turn either closer or further to Christ personally!
Does it bother you that His shame is being portrayed over and over in the theater?  (It always has on a weekly basis in a catholic church - did that bother you?)
He is seeking fellowship and everybody wants to see Him in his open shame!

K.  This movie guides us closer or further concerning worshipping God in spirit and in truth!
You with the stuff in this movie or against it?  Does this bring you closer in TRUTH or closer to Catholic antichrist?

L.  We can see how we ALL have been beguiled!
Beguilement: an entertainment that provokes pleased interest and distracts you from worries and vexations; synonyms: bewitchery, distraction; see also: amusement, attractiveness, entertainment
II Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Colossians 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
Colossians 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Have Bible Believing, Bible Studying, Rightly Divided, Bible College and Institute trained Christians been beguiled? It seems so!

M.  This movie gets us back to WORDS instead of images!
This is a 'biggie' sermon that I am saving for Part II tonight!

N.  Because this movie is so off the mark, it makes us look into the Scriptures for the TRUTH of the crucifixion!
This movie ought to make us 'review' the Scriptures in order to make sure we KNOW the truth about the entire event, because what the movie portrays is a catholic version - the stations of the cross - in other words, a very unbiblical account!

O.  Because this movie is so wrong about the crucifixion, we can be reminded what actually is IMPORTANT about the Crucifixion!
Scripture makes clear that the meaning of Christ's crucifixion lay NOT in His physical suffering, but in His propitiation of the wrath of God.  God's wrath was utterly placed on Christ Jesus, who suffered the full extent of its unabated curse for the sins for His people.  The fullness of divine wrath that Christ suffered was like that fire from heaven, recorded in the OT, which consumed the sacrifices.  The wrath that should have fallen upon the sinner, fell upon Christ.

The representative relationship of Christ to His people is a real and necessary one.  The All Holy God deemed it 'just' to punish Christ for the sins of His people, and to credit them with His righteousness, and thus completely satisfy all the demands of His law upon them.

Strict substitution demanded it so that real imputation of His righteousness to His own people could follow.  Rather than the physical torture He suffered, the absolute horror that Christ endured was separation form His Father.  He felt the full wrath of God!  II Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.  Isaiah 53:10 It pleased the Lord to bruise him; He hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin... Romans 3:22 even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.

The movie doesn't even begin to portray the real importance of Christ's crucifixion!

P.  Because of the false portrayal of Jesus Christ, this movie actually let's us see the 'another Jesus' that Paul was warning about and how subtle yet successful he will be!
Galatians 1:6-8  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
II Corinthians 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Q.  Because of the false gospel this movie presents, it actually helps us understand the delusion as it grows more and more obvious - well, to some, anyway!!
It's everywhere - signs, miracles, wonders, healings, etc. and now movies that bring all the folks together!

God sends the famine of hearing the words of the Lord - Amos 8:11-13; God sends them strong delusion because of their refusal to be saved through the truth... And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. II Thessalonians 2:10-12

R.  The success of this movie, in spite of the false gospel it presents, it helps us realize where the "church" is these days!
Not only has the 'world' been suckered into this world-wide global movement, the religious crew has as well.  Not only the 'religious' denominational crowd, not only has the evangelical crowd, but more KJV Bible Believers than I ever thought have been suckered into a popular acceptance of 'church support' of a movie that brings everyone together in spite of the catholic influence and false teachings within the entire movie!

What is left to pollute before the Lord just takes away His bride?  How many will give in to world fornication before the Lord returns for His own?

S.  Because of the issue and hassle of opposing so many Bible Believers as well as so many others, this movie helps us long for the Rapture!
Romans 8:18-23  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
II Corinthians 5:1-3  For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:  If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

T.  Because of what this movie does to Jesus Christ, we ought to be able to better understand His true need for fellowship in Revelation 3:20 and why God would spue out this Laodicean church crowd!

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.  Revelation 3:18-20

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.  Revelation 3:16-19

Conclusion:
The devil is trying to wear us out!  Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

We are called to bear fruit!  Satan is wearing us out so that we cannot bare fruit…  most Christians are TOO Busy to bare any fruit…  God WILL use us and needs to use us, if we are just willing to plant and water!

Luk 12:20-31  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.  And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?  Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.   If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?   And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.   For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.   But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Daniel 7:26-28  But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.  And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.  Hitherto is the end of the matter.  As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

Keep this matter in your heart!
