While ministering to Israel during
His physical presence on earth, Christ promised His disciples...
Matthew
21:22 - All things whatsoever ye shall
ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Mark 11:24
- What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
John 15:7
-
Ye
shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
When asked
by a disciple, ...Teach us to pray...
the Lord instructed them to pray for the promised kingdom to be established
on the earth, to pray for God to provide them with food each day, to forgive
them for their sins.
Matthew
6:5-13 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt
not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues
and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily
I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter
into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which
is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they
think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore
like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before
ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done
in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
All of the
above is related only to the chosen people Israel.
But Israel
has no identification in the world today. God has blinded them and
set them aside for a time, "until the
fullness of the Gentiles be come in."
Romans
11:25, meaning until the close of the
dispensation of the grace of God in which we now live. |
Today, our prayer life is under
the guidance of our own apostle, Paul, who tells us:
Romans
8:26-27 - Likewise the Spirit also
helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we
ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what
is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints
according to the will of God.
Peace of
God
Philippians
4:6,7 - Be careful for nothing; but in
every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Without
wrath and doubting
I Timothy
2:8 - I will therefore that men pray every
where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Ephesians
6:18 - Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance
and supplication for all saints;
I Thessalonians
5:17 - Pray
without ceasing.
Paul
prayed for others/us...
...in ways that
would be models for us to be praying and doing whatever we can to see these
prayers answered in our children's, friends, etc. lives as well as in our
own.
1.
Ephesians
1:16 - 19 - Cease not to give thanks for
you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what
the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the
exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the
working of his mighty power,
2.
Ephesians
14-19 - For this cause I bow my knees unto
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven
and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of
his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ,
which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of
God.
3.
Philippians 1:9-11
- And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge
and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that
ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled
with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory
and praise of God.
4.
Colossians 1:9-11
- For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray
for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his
will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy
of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing
in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his
glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in light: |
