Forgiveness in the Kingdom Gospel
Mark 11:25,26
Forgiveness in the Grace Gospel
Ephesians 4:32
The power of the forgiveness of sin is, and always was, in God's hands.

But He has not always dealt with the process in precisely the same manner.

In the gospels, we see...
  • Mark 11:25,26 - And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
  • Luke 6:37 - Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
  • Matthew 6:12 - And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
The condition is clear - forgive so that God can forgive you.

That isn't the way it is today!  (read on...)

Then we see that the 'forgiveness of sin' certainly wasn't complete..
  • Matthew 26:28 - For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
  • Mark 1:4 - John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
  • Hebrews 9:22 - And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
  • Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
There was then and will be in the Tribulation, etc. a need for confessing of sins in order to be forgiven...
  • I John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Paul's mission:
  • Acts 26:18 - To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Paul's teachings about forgiveness:
  • Ephesians 4:32 - And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
  • Ephesians 1:7 -  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
  • Colossians 1:14 - In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
  • Colossians 2:13 - And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
  • Romans 4:5-8 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
  • Romans 4:15 - Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
  • Romans 4:22 - And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
