Touchet, Baptist Church - Touchet, Washington Mike Paulson - Pastor |

Much of the great reading of early America from Home School publishers brings in Calvinism and Holiness - and also has driven away many teens as does Calvinism and a fleshly attained holiness.
The 'Historical Baptists' get their support from this great 'history' of America. Is it the doctrine that was blessed by God or was it blessed because of Revelation 3:8 with the truth finally exposing it all these days? Calvinists, as are Briders, etc. are usually pretty sneaky & quiet about their bottom line teachings. Today, the result of a lot of this past 'family culture' is the Landmarker and Brider Baptist churches who think the local baptist churches built America!
There was some of the greatest preaching from those early preachers
- good preaching on holiness - best you can find even today...
...but they were doing right wrong!
Look at today's fruit of it all - something went wrong - it didn't last
- it must not have had God's blessing, after all!
Doing right wrong when it came to Calvinistic holiness didn't work
after all!
Wrong dividing truly led to an increase of ungodliness in America -
and today moral cancer is proof!
See II Timothy 2:15 but especially
verse 16!
The word 'chosen' is a mainstay word of Calvinism, etc.
There is a lot of choosing going on here, but none of it deals with
salvation...
and besides that, nobody was forced to "do" anything - nor are we today,
nor should we be!
P.S. Al these folks listed below had been tempted
to reject their 'invitation - their calling...!'
If chosen, why the struggle???
Old Testament, Gospels - etc
ISRAEL... - Abraham, etc. - Genesis 12; Psalm 105:1-15, 43; Isaiah 41:8
ISRAEL... - The
"Chosen" People from Abraham on - the Jews.
Mark 13:20:
And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved:
but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened
the days.
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. (Remember, we are JOINT heirs, not original heirs!)
Psalm 106:1-8 ...That I may see the good of thy chosen...
ISRAEL... - David
Psalm 89:3
I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant...
Psalm 89:19 Then
thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon
one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
I Samuel 16:13
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his
brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.
So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
II Samuel 7:8-24+ ...
Jesus Christ
Matthew 12:18:
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul
is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment
(not
salvation) to the Gentiles.
Luke 23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. A mocking challenge... the same sort of challenge folks give Christians... if we WERE chosen, then we would be the anointed and they wouldn't dare mess with us!!! I Chronicles 16:22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalm 105:15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Unfortunately, many preachers still like to 'claim' these verses for themselves - as do TV evangelists, etc.
ISRAEL... - Labourers
(see
verse
1)
Matthew 20:16:
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but
few
chosen.
ISRAEL... - Guest
at the wedding - already received the
invitation - the calling!
Matthew 22:14:
For many are called, but few are chosen.
ISRAEL... - Apostles/Disciples
John 6:70: Jesus
answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a
devil?
ISRAEL... - Judas
John 13:18:
I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture
may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel
against me.
ISRAEL... - Apostles/Disciples
John 15:16:
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you,
that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:
that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
John 17:6 I
have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of
the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have
kept thy word.
John 17:9 I
pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which
thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Us today -John
17:20-23 Neither pray I for these
alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that
they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast
sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them;
that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in
me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may
know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved
me. (note: lovED then,
not lovES them! See John 3:16)
ISRAEL... - Apostles/Disciples
Acts 1:2: Until
the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost
had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
ISRAEL... - Matthias
(Acts 1:23-26)
Acts 1:24:
And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all
men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, yet,
they still had to draw lots...
Paul to Gentiles
Acts 9:15: But
the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me,
to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Paul was not chosen for salvation, he was chosen to be a vessel - a vessel
to bear His name before the Gentiles, etc.
Paul was also chosen to know God's
will (22:14),
to see Christ and hear his voice (Acts
22:14); to be a minister and a witness
(Acts 26:16);
and to open the eyes of the Gentiles and turn them to God (Acts
26:18).
Also see II Timothy 2:10 - Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Besides the Millennial application (see 2:10), why would Paul strive (Romans 15:20) and labour in the Gospel (Philippians 4:3), enduring (II Timothy 2:10) beatings, stonings, imprisonments, shipwreck, perils, pain, hunger, and cold (II Corinthians 11:23-27) for the sake of the elect who would be saved anyway.
Paul endured those things so they could be saved!!!!!!!!! Hello!!!!!
Paul longed to see his fellow Jews saved (Romans
9:1-3; 10:1-3; 11:12-14)!
Peter's sermon
content (see 34-43)
God chose who saw Christ closely after the resurrection!
Acts 10:41: Not
to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even
to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
Not 'by'
the Lord, 'in!'
Romans 16:13:
Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.
The foolish, weak,
base things of this world, the despised, the things which are not...
to do what?
I Corinthians 1:27,28 But
God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;
and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things
which are mighty; And
base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,
yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
(the homeshooling, little church,
unpapered pastor, the common person, fishermen, Labourers, jobless, a child,
a teen, a single Book, preaching, etc.... etc.)
There were those
chosen from within the church
Acts 15:22:
Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send
chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely,
Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
Acts 15:25-27 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
II Corinthians 8:19 See 16-21 for context... And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
God's original
"plan," not "persons"...
also see 1-6
Ephesians 1:4:
According as he hath chosen us (does
not say 'to be') in him before
the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame
before him in love: (so,
if they were 'saved' before the foundation of the world, did they fall
out of grace at death from sin and Adam, etc.? If so, when did they
fall back in?) the plan? to be holy and without blame before
him in love - and now, Christ has made that possible... WHOSOEVER calleth
upon Him...!
Salvation is
chosen through...
II Thessalonians 2:13: But
we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the
Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through
sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Specifically this
is to Timothy and those willing to learn from Timothy who also want to
be a soldier! (also see verse
2,3)
II Timothy 2:4:
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that
he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
The poor (
see I Corinthians 1:17,18)
James 2:1-5:
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world
(not "TO BE" poor)
rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them
that love him? Jews, remember
- James was written around and before Acts
12. Already poor rich in faith?
Comments on the elect - foreknowledge!!
See I Peter 1:1-5
- but especially verse 2 -
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification
of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
I Peter 2:4: To
whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen
of God, and precious,
Check the cross-references to the stone (Genesis
49:24; Psalm 118:22; Isaiah 28:16) and
the stumbling (Isaiah 8:14; Matthew 21:44;
Romans 9:33). The disobedience is
defined in the context as unbelief (I Peter
2:7) just as obedience is defined as belief
in Romans 10:16.
"Whosoever believeth" is found in the same passages as the stumbling stone
(Isaiah 28:16; Romans 9:33; I Peter 2:6).
No man was appointed to stumble unless he did not believe (Romans
9:32). L. Vance
I Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: See Exodus 19:6; Deuteronomy 14:2 for where these words came.
Who is with Him
when He comes back? Called then chosen based on their faithfulness
to "battle," not to "salvation." See
Revelation 19:14
Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for
he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are
called, and chosen, and faithful.
Notice it is not "the" called.
Also, The devils army is mentioned in Revelation
16:14 - For they are the spirits
of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth
and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day
of God Almighty.
And the battle is mentioned again Revelation
9:14 - And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
But nobody truly 'knows' who exactly
it is riding with the Lord. angels? only those who have suffered?
suffered 'enough"' etc.
Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen
thy precepts.
Psalm 119:173
Make the Right Choice!
God won't make it for
you!
