A few Answer-Verses to Our Jesus Gospel friends, Family and neighbors

Have you noticed, but we are constantly being 'judged' by our family and friends for what we believe and say, and most of those folks, if they throw any scripture at us at all, throw verses from the Gospels, especially in Jesus' own Beatitude chapters.

I mean, why can't we believe differently than they?  Why do they have such a fit over us, anyway.

One of the marks of our modern society is the frequent re-defining of words. For example, "tolerance" used to mean that even though you had a difference with someone in beliefs, ideals, or opinions, you could still get along with them. You did not cast them out of society just because they were different. You were expected to co-exist, even if you disagreed. But today the word tolerant means that you must change or discard your beliefs, ideals, and opinions for the sake of getting along with others. To say that you do not agree somehow means that you believe the other person's opinions are inferior. The goal of tolerance today is not peace, but conformity. To be different is to be wrong. Unfortunately, much of this conflict has been brought about by the perverts leaving their closets and coming out into the mainstream.  And with such acceptance of these folks, the issue gets clouded now.  Yes, there are those who need to be rejected from society because of their perversions!  But regardless of that truthful statement, we Bible Believers are looked upon as even more perverted than an official pervert!

Anyway, to most folks today, if we say that we have the truth, they think we are being belligerent and insensitive. But as Christians, we do have the truth. And no one else does! The truth comes from Scripture: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17).

So, these folks who throw Scriptures at us from the Gospels and from Acts (Acts is the norm for church design these days), if they truly believe those verses that they throw at us about being a peacemaker, etc.; about how we should be preaching Jesus' own peace; how we should not be judging; and how we should be turning the other cheek, etc. then I am preaching here on just a few verses FROM THEIR OWN CHAPTER that we should ask them if they really believe these verses as much as the ones they preach at us!

While they accuse us of picking and choosing chapters, books, etc. while we try to explain to them rightly dividing the Scriptures, then we can truly turn the tables around and show them how they actually do pick and choose verses out of the gospels to 'judge' us but how they still do not apply them ALL to themselves first.

Here are a few highlighted verses we can preach to them!

If they use Matthew 5:9 on you, then they are claiming being a peacemaker makes as a child of God.  If that is true, then they must also believe verse 20, verses 44,45a5 and 48. Go ahead - show them the verses and then ask them if they are truly a child of God based on these three verses from the same book and chapter they used in trying to get us to be a peacemaker to be a child of God!

20 - For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

44,45a - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:

48 - Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

When they can't honestly agree to those verses, then it is time to show them what Paul says in Galatians 3:26 - For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Ok, in the light of these folks being 'hurt' or 'offended' by our preaching and teaching, newspaper articles, etc. they appear to have forgotten the following verses when they write or talk back with their anger and 'hurt', etc.

Matthew 5:10,11  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
They should be happy we 'bothered' them with our 'opinions!'  They should not be writing back or arguing - they should be thankful!

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.  (I can't wait for one of them to call me a fool, now!)

Matthew 5:25  Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
They are suppose to AGREE WITH US to keep an argument from coming around!

Matthew 5:39  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
They sure don't seem to be able to turn the other cheek very well!

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Yup - they are to love us and bless us!

And finally, do they REALLY believe the entire gospel of Jesus in the gospels? ALL of it?

Matthew 5:29,30  And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.  And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
I don't see many one-eyed or one-handed folks around, and with what we see daily in our streets, stores, tv, etc. EVERYBODY should have an eye already poked out!

Matthew 5:34-37  But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:  Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.  Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.  But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
So much for the written contract!

Matthew 5:40-42 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.  And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.  Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
This could put lawyers out of business over night!

Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Have they forgiven us?

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Yes, we know where those in the world (and many many Christians) heart is - I Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

And if they would truly seek Matthew 6:33, they would understand how to 'get that kingdom of God and HIS righteousness.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

If you have been able to stop their mouth by now, it would seem to be a great time to introduce them to rightly dividing the word of truth, eh!
Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Titus 1:11  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
